Ford will unveil a new special edition based on the Ranger MS-RT at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. Production will be limited to 500 vehicles. The world premiere is scheduled for Ford’s stand at the event, which runs from 12 to 18 October. Ford has not yet released the edition’s full name, price or final equipment list.

Ford France announced the series on 6 October, but the statement deliberately leaves several technical questions open. It confirms that the special edition is based on the Ranger MS-RT. It does not say whether the 500 vehicles will use the diesel powertrain, the plug-in hybrid system, or both. The final specification is expected to be explained at the Paris presentation.

The Ranger MS-RT in context

The Ranger MS-RT is a Ford pickup developed with MS-RT, a specialist associated with Ford motorsport partner M-Sport. It combines the practical format of a double-cab pickup and load bed with styling inspired by rally and circuit cars. It remains a road-going commercial vehicle rather than a competition truck.

The current European Ranger MS-RT is offered with a 3.0-litre EcoBlue V6 diesel producing 240 PS and 600 Nm, according to Ford’s product information. Ford has also introduced a Ranger MS-RT PHEV based on the Ranger plug-in hybrid system. That version combines a 2.3-litre petrol engine with a 75 kW electric motor and is rated at 281 PS and 697 Nm. Ford has not confirmed which of these powertrains will be used by the limited edition.

Exterior and chassis changes

The MS-RT treatment includes a redesigned front bumper, an integrated splitter and a honeycomb grille. Extended wheel arches and sculpted side skirts change the truck’s profile. At the rear, the package adds a cab spoiler, a ducktail-style spoiler and an integrated diffuser.

The existing Ranger MS-RT uses 21-inch alloy wheels and a sports suspension lowered by 40 mm. Ford also describes special tyres designed to reduce road noise. These details belong to the current MS-RT specification and should not automatically be treated as confirmed equipment for the 500-unit edition until Ford publishes its final technical sheet.

The motorsport connection is expressed through design and engineering collaboration, not through a racing homologation. The Ranger remains a usable pickup with a double cab, a load bed and towing capability. Ford has not announced more power, a different acceleration time or a new top speed for the special edition.

Interior equipment

The Ranger MS-RT has a model-specific steering wheel with a centre marker, sports seats and trim combining Eco-Leather with synthetic suede. Blue contrast stitching and MS-RT branding distinguish the cabin from a standard Ranger. Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment system uses a 12-inch touchscreen.

Ford has not said whether every one of these features will be standard on the new limited edition. Colours, numbered-vehicle details and country allocations are also unknown. A 500-unit European series may be distributed differently between markets, and availability in Romania has not been confirmed.

The Paris Motor Show debut

The 2026 Paris Motor Show takes place at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles from 12 to 18 October. Ford’s display is in Hall 5.3, stand A42. Press day is scheduled for 12 October, while the public opening begins on 13 October.

The stand will also include the Ranger MS-RT, Raptor T1+, Mustang GTD, Mustang Mach-E Rally, Bronco, Puma Gen-E and commercial vehicles such as the E-Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom. Ford lists the limited Ranger MS-RT edition among the world-premiere highlights of its show programme.

The truck is part of a wider Ford presentation built around the “Ready. Set. Ford.” brand platform. The platform covers support for professional customers, driving performance and adventure. Ford has separately announced that it will return as a full factory team to the FIA World Rally Championship from 2028. That racing plan provides context for the MS-RT design, but it does not turn the Ranger into a competition vehicle.

What is still unknown

The Paris reveal should clarify the edition’s name, powertrain, price, markets and delivery timing. Romanian buyers will also need confirmation of local homologation, warranty terms, Ford Pro ordering and the number of vehicles allocated to the country.

For now, the confirmed information is limited to a 500-unit special edition based on the Ranger MS-RT. The rest must be separated from the specifications of the existing model. Until Ford publishes the full Paris announcement, any price or exact configuration reported outside Ford should be treated as unconfirmed.

The same caution applies to availability and delivery dates.
