In the UK, Renault is advertising the Clio iconic esprit Alpine full hybrid E-Tech 145 MY27 at £279 a month on PCP, with a £4,015 customer deposit, 48 monthly payments and a £10,189 optional final payment over a 49-month agreement. Checked on 1 November 2026, it is our documented pick in the mainstream full-hybrid hatchback category. The example allows 6,000 miles a year, approximately 9,656 km, and depends on credit approval and participating-retailer availability.

The offer is open for specified new-car orders from 1 October to 16 December 2026, with registration and finance completed by 31 March 2027. That is an order window rather than a promise that a particular colour or vehicle is immediately available. Renault's current offer site asks buyers to check Clio stock with their local retailer.

What the £279 payment leaves outside the headline

The official representative example gives a cash price of £24,995 and a Renault deposit contribution of £1,500. The amount of credit is £19,480, with 6.9% representative APR and a stated cost of credit of £4,101. The monthly payment is therefore only one part of a purchase that ends with a substantial balloon payment if the buyer keeps the car.

Item Published figure
Customer deposit £4,015
Renault contribution £1,500
Monthly payments 48 × £279
Optional final payment £10,189
Agreement duration 49 months
Representative APR 6.9%
Published total amount payable £29,096

Adding the customer's deposit, monthly payments and optional final payment gives £27,596. The site's published total amount payable is £1,500 higher, matching the separately listed Renault contribution. These figures should be read together: the manufacturer's contribution is not an additional £1,500 that the buyer should simply add to their own deposit. The personalised finance document should identify the allocation explicitly before signing.

If the optional final payment is not made, this is not a route to outright ownership for £279 a month alone. Returning the vehicle is subject to the agreement's conditions, including mileage and vehicle condition. A replacement vehicle is also a separate transaction; future equity must not be assumed from today's guaranteed final figure.

Which Clio is actually being offered?

The representative example specifies iconic esprit Alpine full hybrid E-Tech 145 MY27. It belongs to the facelifted Clio generation shown in the offer, rather than automatically being the newer 160-powertrain model sold under the Clio name in some other markets. A shared model name does not make those cars or their prices interchangeable.

Renault lists adaptive cruise control, a Bose nine-speaker audio system with easy link navigation and a 9.3-inch touchscreen, plus a 360-degree around-view monitor for this example. Those are the equipment points supporting this selection; they should be checked against the actual stock vehicle and order specification. A press photograph cannot establish whether an individual car carries every illustrated option.

The propulsion category is full hybrid. It combines petrol and electric propulsion without requiring a charging cable. Mild-hybrid hatchbacks and plug-in hybrids were excluded from this comparison, because their operating requirements and offer structures are different. The esprit Alpine name is a trim designation here, not evidence that the car is a dedicated performance model.

Who can apply, and what happens above the mileage limit?

The PCP terms require applicants to be at least 18, resident in the UK excluding the Channel Islands, and accepted for finance by Mobilize Financial Services. Guarantees or indemnities may be required. The offer cannot be combined with other schemes or finance promotions, according to Renault's published conditions.

The contractual allowance is 6,000 miles per year. Renault quotes excess mileage at 8p per mile including VAT. The original units matter because they identify the contract; the approximate kilometre equivalent is useful for comparing annual driving needs, but does not replace the mileage wording in the agreement.

A driver covering substantially more than approximately 9,656 km a year should obtain a revised quote. The published example should not be treated as a low monthly payment available unchanged at any mileage. Condition-related charges also depend on the final contract, so the rental-style cost of returning the car is not established by multiplying £279 alone.

Why this is our pick, rather than a claim of the lowest price

The research target was fixed before checking offers: hatchback, mainstream segment and full hybrid. That combination had not previously produced a selection in this UK series, and this Clio derivative does not repeat a recorded UK choice. The model was selected after the brand-page scan, not used to define the category retrospectively.

Among the documented candidates, the Clio ranks first for a usable finance example tied to a named, well-specified derivative, a current order window and disclosed deposit, mileage, balloon and APR. MG's UK pages also advertise an MG3 Hybrid+ starting price and a current finance campaign, but the calculator could not be verified sufficiently to construct an equivalent complete PCP comparison. A lower cash entry price is not, by itself, proof of a lower cost for this particular financing requirement.

The comparison is limited to offers that could actually be checked. Several manufacturer pages were blocked or did not expose complete figures. The Clio is therefore an editorial pick from the verifiable set, not a claim that every dealer in Britain has been checked or that no cheaper full-hybrid hatchback exists.

Three points to settle before placing an order

Does £279 include ownership at the end? No. Keeping the vehicle requires the separately stated £10,189 optional final payment, subject to the contract.

Is the advertised deposit contribution cash back? It is shown as a Renault contribution within the finance example. It should not be treated as a cash payment to the customer or a discount that can automatically be transferred to another purchase method.

Is delivery guaranteed by the finance deadline? The offer specifies registration and finance deadlines, but does not reserve a vehicle. Ask the retailer to identify the stock car, confirm its specification and state the delivery timing in writing before paying a reservation amount.
