JAECOO 8 SHS-P opens for orders in Romania from €50,990

The JAECOO 8 SHS-P is now available to order in Romania. The local launch offer starts at €50,990 including VAT, and the importer initially lists one Exclusive trim. The large plug-in hybrid SUV combines a petrol engine with electric motors, all-wheel drive and a three-row cabin.

The Romanian launch is not a country-specific model. Official JAECOO or OMODA & JAECOO pages also list the 8 SHS-P in the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain, while OMODA & JAECOO Belux has announced the vehicle for Belgium and Luxembourg. Each market has its own trim names, prices and certification figures, so the Romanian offer should not be presented as the specification for every country.

What Romanian customers get

The launch information for Romania describes the Exclusive version with all-wheel drive, 20-inch wheels, a panoramic roof, a head-up display and a 540-degree camera system. The standard equipment list also includes a Sony audio system with 14 speakers, heated and ventilated front seats with massage functions, heated rear seats and an electric tailgate.

The cabin uses two 12.3-inch displays, one for the digital instruments and one for infotainment. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, as is a 50W wireless phone charger. The exact list should still be checked against the vehicle quotation, because local importers can adjust equipment, software and commercial packages.

The €50,990 figure is described as a promotional launch price. It should therefore not be treated as a permanent list price without checking the campaign conditions. A buyer should ask whether financing, trade-in, scrappage, delivery, registration or other fees are required for the advertised amount.

The SHS-P powertrain

The vehicle uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine, a 3DHT hybrid transmission, a 34.46 kWh traction battery and electric motors that provide all-wheel drive. The official UK page describes a three-motor system and lists 428 PS, 580 Nm and a 0–100 km/h time of about 5.8 seconds. The Italian technical page gives the same broad powertrain architecture.

The Romanian launch report quotes 462 hp, 580 Nm and 5.8 seconds to 100 km/h. That figure should be labelled as the Romanian-market communication because the UK and Italian manufacturer pages list 428 PS for the same SHS-P family. The difference may reflect a calculation method or the way peak motor outputs are presented. It should not be silently merged into one universal number.

The Romanian information gives up to 135 km of electric range and DC charging at up to 70 kW. The Italian page lists 134 km of combined WLTP electric range and 169 km in the urban cycle, with a 30–80% DC charging time of about 20 minutes. Those are test-cycle values. Temperature, speed, payload and tyre choice can change the distance a driver actually achieves.

With a charged battery and a full fuel tank, European market information quotes more than 1,000 km of combined range. A 1,660 km result from a real-world test has also been reported for the Romanian launch. That test result is not the same as WLTP range and should not be read as a guaranteed distance for every customer.

A wider European rollout

The UK market offers the JAECOO 8 SHS-P in Luxury and Executive versions. The official page lists seven seats for Luxury and six seats for Executive, with UK prices of £45,500 and £47,500 respectively. These versions show why a market launch cannot be described by a single European price or a single seating layout.

In Italy, the model has a dedicated manufacturer page with seven seats, 428 PS, 134 km of combined WLTP electric range and a €53,900 list price. A separate finance campaign is shown with its own eligibility and end date. In Spain, the official JAECOO site describes the 8 SHS plug-in hybrid with a 1.5T engine, a three-speed 3DHT transmission and intelligent all-wheel drive.

Belgium provides another confirmed market. The local OMODA & JAECOO announcement lists the seven-seat JAECOO 8 SHS-P from €54,900 and says the vehicle is sold through the Belgian and Luxembourg dealer network. The release quotes 428 PS, 580 Nm and the 34.46 kWh battery.

The evidence reviewed for France and Germany is different. The current French importer pages list other OMODA and JAECOO models but do not show a JAECOO 8 offer. I also found no current official German order page for this model. That does not prove the SUV will never launch in either country; it means those markets should not be described as confirmed at the time of writing.

What to check before ordering

Romanian buyers should request the local technical sheet and the complete quotation. The important details are the homologated power figure, WLTP electric range, charging capability, number of seats, vehicle mass, towing limit, warranty and the precise terms of the launch price.

The JAECOO 8 SHS-P is therefore not a Romania-only product. Romania is one of several European markets where customers can order it, with a local launch price of €50,990 and one initial trim. The UK, Italy, Spain and Belgium confirm broader availability, while France and Germany remain unconfirmed in the official material checked for this article.
