The new-generation Hyundai Tucson measures 4,700 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width and 1,685 mm in height, and the wheelbase reaches 2,785 mm. Hyundai has also confirmed that the commercial launch will start on the first markets in the fourth quarter of 2026. There is still no date for the opening of orders in Europe and Romania.

Full information on engines is still missing. The manufacturer has separately announced Tucson and Tucson Hybrid versions, but has not published the power of the propulsion systems, battery capacity, consumption or the electric range of a possible plug-in hybrid variant.

Dimensions of the new Hyundai Tucson 2027

Compared with the long version of the previous generation, which Hyundai used as a benchmark in the international presentation, the new model grows by 60 mm in length, 40 mm in width and 20 mm in height. The wheelbase is 30 mm larger.

Dimension New Hyundai Tucson Difference vs Hyundai’s benchmark
Length 4,700 mm +60 mm
Width 1,905 mm +40 mm
Height 1,685 mm +20 mm
Wheelbase 2,785 mm +30 mm

The comparison needs a clarification for Romanian buyers. The Tucson sold in Europe today has a shorter body, of about 4,500 mm, and a 2,680 mm wheelbase. If Hyundai brings the new model to the European market in the 4.70-metre configuration, the difference versus the car currently available in Romania will be around 200 mm in length and 105 mm between the axles.

Hyundai has not confirmed whether the fifth generation will keep two body variants for different regions. European dimensions must therefore be checked after the homologation sheet for this market is published.

More space on the rear bench

The increase in wheelbase and height brings 29 mm more headroom on the second row, according to the manufacturer’s data. The rear doors now open to 83 degrees, a 10-degree increase versus the previous generation. The change should make it easier to fit a child seat and for passengers to get onto the bench.

Hyundai says the new Tucson offers class-leading interior space, but boot volume has not been published. Until figures measured to the same standard appear, the larger body cannot be turned into an exact comparison of load capacity.

Cabin with a separate central screen and physical controls

The dashboard drops the dual-screen layout of the current model. The instrument cluster is a narrow display in the driver’s line of sight, and the multimedia system has a vertical central screen. Its diagonal has not been disclosed.

Official photographs show physical controls under the display and on the door console, two surfaces for wireless phone charging and a steering wheel flattened at the top and bottom. Hyundai has not yet confirmed the list of digital functions for the European version, nor standard equipment.

What is known about powertrains

At the strategy presentation on 26 August 2026, Hyundai listed “the new Tucson” and “Tucson Hybrid” separately in the calendar. Both are due to reach the first markets in the last three months of the year. The company has not said whether this first stage concerns South Korea only or also includes other regions.

The existence of a hybrid version is therefore confirmed. Engine displacement, combined power, transmission type and drive have not been confirmed. Complete withdrawal of conventional petrol variants from all markets has not been announced officially either.

The current Tucson is offered in Romania with petrol, mild-hybrid, full-hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. The new generation’s range may differ, and data intended for Korea or North America should not automatically be treated as valid for Europe.

Straighter design and an XRT version

The body has an almost horizontal bonnet, much more pronounced wings and light bars that cross the front end and the tailgate. This direction replaces the heavily sculpted surfaces and the lights integrated into the grille of the current generation.

Hyundai has also presented a Tucson XRT, with its own bumpers, grille, wheel-arch cladding and wheels. For now, XRT is described through design and equipment elements. A higher ground clearance, different transmission ratios or other changes that would turn it into a version dedicated to difficult off-road use have not been announced.

When it might arrive in Romania

Hyundai has not published a calendar for Romania. A launch on the first markets in Q4 2026 makes a European appearance in 2027 possible, but that remains an estimate until an announcement from the European division or the local importer.

The starting price, equipment levels and warranty terms are not yet available. Anyone comparing the new model with the Tucson now in showrooms must wait for the European specification sheet: dimensions, engine range and equipment can vary from one region to another.
