Lexus shows first images of the NX facelift. The full reveal is on 1 September
Lexus has published the first frames of the restyled NX SUV, ahead of the full presentation scheduled for 1 September 2026. The images and short clips confirm changes to the headlights, dashboard and steering wheel, but the manufacturer has not yet communicated the powertrain range, prices or the commercial calendar for Europe.
The update comes about five years after the debut of the second-generation NX. The current model was presented in June 2021 and introduced the first plug-in hybrid system offered by Lexus, alongside a full-hybrid version.
New LED headlights and a redesigned grille
The most recent teaser shows the front end in backlight. The element that is clearly visible is the new light signature, formed of two stacked horizontal LED segments. The shape differs from the "L"-shaped daytime running lights of the model now on sale.
The overall body outline appears to remain close to the current one, which confirms the character of a facelift, not an entirely new generation. Other frames published by Lexus show a green body shade and multi-spoke wheels finished in a dark colour.
The grille and air intakes are not yet fully visible. International motoring press anticipates an interpretation of the "spindle body" design used on newer Lexus models, but the exact shape can be described only after the official presentation. The rear has not been revealed enough to confirm the tail-light graphics or bumper changes.
The interior takes the steering wheel of the new Lexus ES
A second teaser offers more information about the cabin. The steering wheel has a design close to that of the new-generation Lexus ES, and its centre carries the LEXUS inscription instead of the oval badge with the letter "L". On the steering-wheel spokes, touch controls appear integrated into a simplified surface.
Lexus has also revised the central area of the dashboard. The air vents and climate controls have a cleaner layout under the multimedia screen. The display appears to keep the wide format of the current system, available today with a diagonal of up to 14 inches, but the size and software of the new model have not been confirmed.
Red leather-trimmed seats also appear in the images, with a geometric pattern stitched on the centre section. This configuration may belong to an F Sport version, but Lexus has not specified the equipment level used in the teaser.
The facelift's powertrains remain unknown
The NX is built on the GA-K architecture, related to the TNGA-K platform used by Toyota. The current international range includes, depending on the market, petrol engines, a hybrid system and a plug-in hybrid.
Lexus has not confirmed which versions will continue after the facelift, nor whether the powertrains will receive changes. Information about dropping some combustion engines, a longer electric range or the adoption of a new generation of Lexus Safety System is, at this point, unconfirmed.
This distinction matters because the 1 September presentation may initially target the Japanese market or certain regions. Configurations for Europe and Romania may be announced separately and may differ from those available in the United States or Japan.
Which Lexus NX versions are sold in Romania now
In Romania, Lexus currently lists two powertrains, both with a 2.5-litre petrol engine and E-Four electric all-wheel drive:
- NX 350h AWD, full hybrid, with 197 hp and 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 8.1 seconds;
- NX 450h+ AWD, plug-in hybrid, with 292 hp and 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 6.4 seconds.
Data published by Lexus Romania for the current NX 450h+ indicate an electric range of up to 68 km in certain configurations, measured in the WLTP cycle. The values shown on the brand's pages differ by equipment and homologation conditions, so the facelift's specifications should not be inferred from those of the current car.
On 31 August 2026, the local configurator displays a promotional price from €58,004 including VAT for the NX 350h AWD Comfort and from €67,281 for the NX 450h+ AWD Executive. These prices refer to the pre-facelift model and can change independently of the updated version's launch.
What remains to be learned at the official presentation
Lexus must publish complete exterior and interior images, dimensions, equipment and powertrain data. Only then will it be clear whether the multimedia interface, assistance systems and the plug-in hybrid battery have been updated.
For the Romanian market, the date when orders open, the equipment list and prices matter separately. Until those are communicated, the teasers confirm only the revised design and the 1 September premiere, not immediate availability in local showrooms.
