Hyundai has published the first official sketches of the new Bayon, which it describes as a global SUV intended for urban use. The images give the first clues about the design direction, but the manufacturer has not yet announced the launch date, engines, price or the markets in which it will be available.
A design with firmer lines
The sketches presented by Hyundai India point to a more geometric reading of the small SUV. The front has a sculpted bonnet, prominent wings and light clusters marked by the H-Edge lighting signature. In the image published by Auto Express, daytime running lights with a shape close to the letter “T” can also be seen.
Hyundai says the new Bayon continues the evolution of the “Art of Steel” design language, based on architectural forms, clearly defined character lines and more assured proportions. The manufacturer presents the model as an SUV with a stronger visual identity and with elements intended for everyday city use.
Interior with a wide screen
The second sketch shows a dashboard dominated by a wide screen that appears to extend from behind the steering wheel into the centre of the cabin. Auto Express notes that the image does not allow confirmation of the final layout or the number of physical controls.
In its communication, Hyundai talks about a cabin with advanced technology, intuitive interactions and connected functions. No information has yet been published about the infotainment system, the instrument cluster or standard equipment.
Hyundai has not yet announced the engines
The South Korean manufacturer has confirmed only that the Bayon is being developed as a global product. There are still no official figures for engines, hybrid systems, transmissions, price or the commercial debut. Any estimate of the technical specification or of how the model will be positioned in particular markets therefore remains unconfirmed.
The first sketches do show that Hyundai is preparing a visible design change for the Bayon, with a more robust exterior and an interior oriented towards connectivity. Technical details and the launch timetable are due to be presented later.
