PPC blue Romania and retail-park developer Cometex have announced a partnership to expand electric-vehicle charging infrastructure. The plan covers more than 300 new charging points with estimated total installed capacity above 20 MW. The equipment is expected to be placed at several Altex locations, across Cometex’s retail-park network and at Bricostore sites.

The announcement was published on 22 October 2026. The companies have not released a complete address list, a point-by-point delivery schedule or the tariffs that will apply after commissioning. The figure of more than 300 should therefore be read as a planned expansion, not as a count of points already available to drivers.

The first locations already mentioned

PPC blue says that 20 charging points had been installed by the time of the announcement in locations in Giurgiu, Slatina, Bucharest, Câmpina, Mediaș and Huși. The release provides more detail for some of them. Aurora Retail Park in Giurgiu has an eight-point hub with a total installed capacity of 450 kW. Two additional points are listed at Plaza Giurgiu, with a combined capacity of 50 kW.

At Altex Slatina Greenfield and Altex Iris Titan in Bucharest, PPC blue lists two points at each location, with a combined capacity of 82 kW for each site. The release also refers to charging points in Câmpina, Mediaș and Huși, as well as locations connected with Drobeta-Turnu Severin and Bacău. It does not provide the same combination of address, capacity and operational status for every site, so the list should not be treated as a complete live map.

Another 16 points are due to be completed in Târgu Neamț and Pantelimon. These locations are described as part of the next stage of the expansion rather than as fully available infrastructure. Drivers planning a trip will still need to check the operator’s application for live availability, connectors and the power currently offered once the points are activated.

A wider Cometex retail-park network

The partnership covers Cometex’s national network of 19 retail parks in 18 cities. The developer lists projects in Târgu Neamț, Bacău, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Tulcea, Caracal, Pantelimon, Giurgiu, Vălenii de Munte, Hunedoara, Râmnicu Vâlcea, Brașov, Vatra Dornei, Satu Mare, Deva, Slatina, Dej, Huși and Turnu Măgurele. Some cities have more than one retail park, which explains why the number of projects is higher than the number of cities.

For EV drivers, charging at a retail park can fit into an existing shopping stop. The stop itself does not guarantee a specific amount of energy, however. The result depends on the charger’s output, the vehicle’s maximum DC charging rate, the battery state of charge and whether another vehicle is using the site. A 200-kW charger does not mean that every car will receive 200 kW; the vehicle and battery may impose a lower limit.

87 Cometex points will join PPC blue

Separate from the more than 300 planned new points, PPC blue will gradually take over the charging network developed by Cometex. The integration is expected to add 87 points to PPC blue’s network. The announcement does not say that all 87 are operating on the same day, nor does it give an individual integration date for each retail park.

PPC blue says it already operates more than 1,400 charging points across all Romanian counties, with total installed capacity above 46 MW. Its application shows charging locations and supports trip planning for the company’s Romanian and Greek networks. Moving the Cometex points into the same system could make them easier to find and pay for, but the practical change will depend on when each point appears as active in the application.

The distinction between a point and a station matters. A charging point is the place where one vehicle can be connected. A station or site may contain one or several points. The announcement is expressed in points and total installed power; it should not automatically be interpreted as more than 300 separate sites or more than 300 independent stations.

Details that remain open

PPC blue and Cometex have not published the full addresses of the new points, the output of every charger, connector types, exact commissioning dates or the ad-hoc charging price. It is also not clear how many of the new points will be ultra-fast and how many will have lower output. The partnership describes ultra-fast charging stations, but that wording does not prove that every point in the total of more than 300 will have the same power rating.

For EV owners, the value of the project will depend on geographic distribution and actual uptime, not only on the headline number. Before setting out, drivers should check the exact location, connector compatibility, their vehicle’s charging limit, the point’s live status and the price shown in the operator’s application. The first sites and the planned Târgu Neamț and Pantelimon points give the project a concrete footprint, but the final scale can only be assessed after the complete list is published and the equipment is commissioned.
