BMW has added the iX3 M60 xDrive to the Neue Klasse electric SUV line-up. It uses one electric motor on each axle, produces 450 kW or 612 hp, and delivers up to 875 Nm of torque. BMW quotes 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 240 km/h.
The headline figures are not yet final homologated data. BMW describes the range, consumption and performance values as provisional. The company gives a maximum WLTP range of 754 km and combined consumption of 17.6–20.5 kWh/100 km. Orders are due to open at the end of January 2027, with production scheduled to begin at BMW Group Plant Debrecen in Hungary in spring 2027.
A dual-motor flagship
The M60 is a fully electric all-wheel-drive model rather than a combustion-powered SUV with an electric assist system. Its Gen6 M eDrive layout places one motor at the front and another at the rear. BMW says the rear unit is a new electrically excited synchronous motor with a revised stator and a more powerful inverter. Those changes are intended to raise peak and continuous output.
The usable battery capacity is 108.7 kWh. The system uses 800-volt technology and accepts up to 400 kW of DC power. Under the assumptions used by BMW, ten minutes at a sufficiently powerful 800-volt charger can add up to 340 km of WLTP range. That is a controlled-cycle estimate, not a guarantee for every charging session. State of charge, battery temperature, vehicle equipment, weather and the charger’s actual output all matter.
AC Charging Professional is standard and supports up to 22 kW on alternating current. The advertised maximum is therefore relevant mainly to compatible three-phase installations. BMW also describes bidirectional charging as part of the Gen6 technology, although market availability and the required hardware may differ.

What changes under the body
BMW fits adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering, M Sport brakes and an electronically controlled M Sport differential at the rear axle as standard. The company says the dampers adjust in milliseconds and that the M-specific tuning aims to balance body control with ride comfort.
The M60 has two dedicated My Modes, M Sport and M Sport Plus. They alter the responses of the powertrain, steering and chassis. The electronically controlled differential can distribute drive more effectively in changing-grip situations and while cornering, but it cannot remove the influence of tyres, road surface or vehicle mass.
The Heart of Joy computer works with BMW M Dynamic Performance Control to coordinate drive, braking, steering, charging and recuperation. BMW says it processes these functions up to ten times faster than previous systems. This is a manufacturer description of the control architecture, not an independent measurement of lap time or handling.
M details for the Neue Klasse design
The new variant keeps the reduced Neue Klasse shape but adds a more specific visual treatment. M Yellow Lights introduce a yellow light signature inspired by BMW’s motorsport cars. BMW Iconic Glow illuminates the outline of the kidney-shaped front elements. The standard wheel is a 21-inch M design, with options reaching 22 inches.
The exterior also includes black M mirror caps with coloured stripes, M badges on the flanks, a black rear diffuser and an M60 badge. A roof-edge spoiler with two aero blades is intended to increase downforce at the rear axle. The iX3 M60 measures 4,782 mm long, 1,895 mm wide and 1,635 mm high, with a 2,897 mm wheelbase.

A performance-focused cabin
Inside, the M60 uses BMW Panoramic iDrive with Operating System X, a 17.9-inch central display and Panoramic Vision. The M Sport steering wheel has a red 12 o’clock marker, M-colour stitching and dedicated Boost and M Mode buttons. M Sport seats are standard, with electric adjustment, lumbar support, backrest-width adjustment, thigh support and massage.
BMW lists a 13-speaker, 430-watt Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos. Buyers can choose among several interior designs and upholstery combinations, including Veganza, M PerformTex and optional Merino leather surfaces. The interior image used in this article comes from an existing Neue Klasse image in the editorial library and illustrates the cabin architecture; exact M60 trim may differ.
The M60 also receives SAE Level 2 driver assistance and BMW Symbiotic Drive. BMW says Motorway Assistant can support hands-free driving on motorways at up to 130 km/h. The driver remains responsible for supervision, legal compliance and taking control when required.

The open questions
BMW has not announced pricing for the iX3 M60 xDrive, and a complete Romanian-market specification is not yet available. The company’s provisional range and consumption figures will need to be replaced by final WLTP data. That distinction matters when comparing the M60 with the iX3 50 xDrive or with other premium electric SUVs.
For now, the confirmed timetable is limited but clear: order books are expected to open at the end of January 2027, and production should start in Debrecen in spring 2027. The M60 is therefore a revealed model with a defined technical package, not yet a priced or fully configured retail offer in every market.
