In the large SUV class, the 2024 SsangYong Rexton from the South Korean brand combines comfort, efficiency and performance in a competitive package.

Rexton 2024 wears a robust, elegant exterior. Flowing yet angular lines, a large front grille and integrated LED headlamps give it a strong, refined presence. Twenty-inch alloy wheels add to the imposing stance.

The cabin blends comfort and function. The new dashboard carries a 12.3-inch touchscreen and touch controls for climate. Air vents are now horizontal, hidden within a trim piece that runs across much of the fascia.

Every Rexton uses the same 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel, rated at 150 kW and 441 Nm. It drives through an eight-speed automatic and a part-time all-wheel-drive system. SsangYong says revised body mounts aim for a “rounder” feel from secondary road inputs.

Rexton 2024 is not only a polished SUV but a capable off-roader. Low-range four-wheel drive, a locking rear differential and strong underbody protection suit rough tracks. Towing capacity is 3,500 kg, useful for long trips or heavy loads.

Official combined consumption is 8.7 l/100 km with a 70-litre fuel tank. It meets Euro 6 emissions standards, which keeps it relatively clean for the class.

SsangYong backs Rexton with a seven-year, unlimited-mileage warranty. Safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and a reversing camera.

We liked the interior design, material quality, driving position and space. Less convincing: no dedicated physical volume knob (only steering-wheel control), some road noise and a slightly confusing infotainment layout.

SsangYong Rexton 2024 mixes sophisticated design, strong performance and high comfort at an accessible price. It deserves consideration if you want a large, capable and relatively economical SUV.
