Lando Norris launches his own junior team: LN4 Fusion enters Formula 3 from 2027

Lando Norris has become co-founder of LN4 Fusion, a new team that will race in the main European categories for junior drivers. The confirmed programme covers Italian Formula 4, the Formula Regional European Championship and FIA Formula 3, with the F3 debut scheduled for the 2027 season.

The McLaren driver will not run day-to-day operations and is not changing his role in Formula 1. His involvement is as co-founder, investor and contributor to the team’s identity and culture. Sporting leadership has been entrusted to managers who have already worked in the feeder series.

LN4 Fusion takes over AIX Racing’s place in Formula 3

LN4 Fusion has bought certain assets of AIX Racing, including the right to compete in FIA Formula 3 for the 2027 season. The championship has officially confirmed that the new structure will join the grid next year.

The team has also submitted an application for the FIA Formula 2 selection process. Participation in F2 is not guaranteed at this stage: the project has announced its intention, and acceptance depends on the organisers’ procedure.

A Formula 4 testing programme is already running in the United Kingdom. LN4 Fusion says it is working towards a future entry in the British championship, while its presence in Italian Formula 4 and Formula Regional completes the path towards F3.

René Rosin will lead the team

The team principal role goes to René Rosin, the former director of Prema Racing. LN4 Fusion credits him with more than 40 titles won in junior championships over the past two decades. Prema has over time prepared drivers who reached Formula 1, including Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri and Kimi Antonelli.

Dan Richards is chief executive and is responsible for company strategy, commercial development and long-term investment. Guillaume Capietto holds the post of racing director, with responsibility for technical and competitive activity.

Operations in the United Kingdom will be coordinated by Dan Hazlewood, who has more than 25 years of experience in motorsport. The team presents him as the person who will build the link between karting and the first seasons in single-seaters.

Norris separately funds a programme for young drivers

In parallel with the team, Norris has created the LN4 Legacy Programme, a development programme funded personally by the driver. The initiative will be administered independently by ADD Management, the company that also managed his path to Formula 1, and will be led by Julian Rouse.

The programme promises full funding for selected drivers, together with training, mentoring and support for career management. The list of participants and the complete selection criteria have not yet been announced.

Norris explained that talent is not enough to reach Formula 1 and that a driver needs the right people, support and opportunities offered at the right time. The team and the development programme are two distinct projects: one enters cars in competition, and the other can fund and prepare young drivers.

Why the pathway starts in Formula 4

Formula 4 is the first major level of single-seater racing after karting. Formula Regional usually follows, then Formula 3 and Formula 2. Results are not the only criterion for promotion: budget, testing, physical preparation and access to a competitive team can decide whether a driver continues or leaves the pathway.

Norris knows this route from his own career. He won the British Formula 4 championship in 2015, became European Formula 3 champion in 2017 and raced in Formula 2 before his debut with McLaren in Formula 1 in 2019.

By entering several series at once, LN4 Fusion is trying to keep drivers in the same structure as they progress. That does not mean every driver on the team will automatically reach the next level: places are limited, and promotion depends on results, budget and sporting decisions.

Norris’s colours reach the cars

LN4 Fusion cars use the fluorescent yellow associated with Norris, combined with a dark base and graphic elements inspired by his visual identity. The number 4 also appears in the project’s presentation and in the team name.

Drivers for the inaugural season were not announced with the launch. The next relevant announcements will be the line-ups in each championship and the outcome of the application for a place in Formula 2.
