Mercedes-Benz has opened orders for the VLE 400 4MATIC electric, the most powerful version of its new MPV. The 8 September 2026 announcement also brings new entry variants for the VLE 300 electric, as well as more configuration options.

The VLE 400 4MATIC develops 310 kW, equivalent to 422 hp, and uses an NMC battery with a usable capacity of 115 kWh. Mercedes-Benz states range of up to 654 km in the WLTP cycle, and 0 to 100 km/h acceleration is quoted in 6.5 seconds. Consumption figures are still provisional: 20–21.7 kWh/100 km, depending on configuration.

For the German market, the list price starts at 78,452.04 € including VAT for the five-seat VLE 400 4MATIC and at 78,909 € including VAT for the six-seat version. The prices do not include delivery costs, and availability and prices for Romania may differ.

An electric MPV that can tow 2.5 tonnes

The new all-wheel-drive system adds an electric motor on the rear axle. Compared with the front-wheel-drive VLE 300, the 4MATIC version can distribute propulsion force between the two axles, which helps on wet, snow-covered or low-grip surfaces.

The VLE 400 4MATIC can tow trailers with a mass of up to 2.5 tonnes, has an admissible vertical load on the tow hitch of 100 kg and can receive a carrier compatible with electric bicycles. Trailer stabilisation through ESP and the trailer manoeuvring assistant are available for this version. The model keeps five-, six-, seven- or eight-seat configurations.

800 V architecture and charging at 300 kW

The battery can be charged at a maximum power of 300 kW in direct current. The manufacturer indicates a time of about 25 minutes for charging from 10% to 80%, in optimal conditions. The electrical architecture operates at 800 V.

The model is 5.31 metres long, 2 metres wide without mirrors and about 1.94 metres high. The kerb weight of the 4MATIC version reaches 2,975 kg, according to the technical configuration published for Germany.

The VLE 300 receives a lower entry threshold

In parallel, Mercedes-Benz introduces a base specification for the VLE 300 electric and the optional Advanced package. The German price for the five-seat VLE 300 starts at 70,735.39 € including VAT, before delivery costs.

The manufacturer says that some equipment that was previously mandatory can now be chosen separately. AIRMATIC air suspension becomes optional, and a comfort-oriented suspension will later also be available. The 11 kW AC charger can be chosen instead of the 22 kW unit. The package range includes Advanced, Advanced Plus, Premium and Premium Plus.

The Advanced package adds, among other items, 19-inch wheels, tinted rear windows, a mirror package and additional USB sockets. Premium Plus can include MBUX Superscreen, a head-up display, augmented-reality navigation, ventilated front seats and a massage function.

For European buyers interested in an electric vehicle with more space than a conventional SUV, the news is the arrival of a four-wheel-drive version with high towing capacity. The range and consumption figures are WLTP values, and real-world range will depend on speed, temperature, load, climate control and the chosen configuration.

Mercedes-Benz has not yet published prices and delivery dates for Romania. The sums above are those valid in Germany on 8 September 2026 and should not be treated as prices for the local market.
