BMW Group Romania has announced prices for the new combustion-engined BMW 3 Series. The entry point is the BMW 318 at €48,098 including VAT. The BMW 320 starts at €52,635, while the six-cylinder BMW M350 xDrive tops the combustion range at €78,045. These are recommended starting prices for Romania, not final transaction prices for fully optioned cars.

The same launch information lists two electric BMW i3 Sedan models: the i3 40 xDrive at €57,959 and the i3 50 xDrive at €62,436 including VAT. They are part of the new 3 Series family but use BMW’s Neue Klasse electric architecture. The combustion versions remain available with petrol engines and 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. BMW also says that a plug-in hybrid version will join the range during 2027.

Romanian starting prices

BMW Group Romania’s table gives the following prices including VAT:

  • BMW 318: €48,098;
  • BMW 320: €52,635;
  • BMW M350 xDrive: €78,045.

The corresponding prices without VAT are €39,750, €43,500 and €64,500. BMW’s online configurator describes its prices as recommended figures based on the basic model without special equipment. Optional paint, wheels, M Sport packages, assistance systems and interior choices can increase the final price. BMW says binding pricing information is available from an authorised partner.

That distinction is important for buyers comparing the headline figure with a dealer quotation. A starting price identifies the least expensive version in the published range; it does not specify every piece of equipment, delivery cost or commercial condition attached to an individual order. The exact specification should be checked in the Romanian configurator and in the final offer.

Three combustion versions at launch

The petrol line-up begins with the BMW 318 and BMW 320, both described by BMW as four-cylinder in-line models. The range is completed by the M350 xDrive, which uses a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder petrol engine. BMW TwinPower Turbo technology is used across the petrol range, together with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

A mild-hybrid system is not the same as a plug-in hybrid. The 48-volt system supports the combustion engine and can help the car deliver power smoothly and operate more efficiently, but it is not charged from an external socket and does not turn the 318 or 320 into electric vehicles. The separately announced plug-in hybrid is scheduled for a later stage of the range.

BMW quotes 326 kW, or 443 hp, for the M350 xDrive. The engine uses a crankshaft-driven starter-generator, and the car combines the six-cylinder engine with all-wheel drive. Adaptive M suspension is standard on this top combustion model. BMW presents it as the most performance-focused member of the combustion 3 Series family at launch.

Official BMW 320 figures

BMW Romania’s model page lists the BMW 320 Sedan with 155 kW, or 211 hp, a top speed of 240 km/h and a 0–100 km/h time of 7.4 seconds. Its combined WLTP fuel consumption is listed at 7.5–6.5 litres per 100 km, while combined CO2 emissions are 169–148 g/km.

These figures come from the mandatory WLTP measurement procedure. BMW notes that real-world results depend on the vehicle load, driving style, route, weather, use of auxiliary electrical equipment such as air conditioning, tyres and the condition of the hybrid system’s battery. The quoted range is therefore a laboratory result under a defined test cycle rather than a guarantee for every journey.

BMW’s Romanian price announcement confirms the starting price for the 318, but the public model pages do not present every performance value for that version in the same format as the 320 page. Buyers should use the exact vehicle configuration when checking consumption, acceleration, equipment and tax-related data.

Design shared with the new family

The new 3 Series adopts design elements introduced with BMW’s Neue Klasse direction. The combustion models and electric i3 share the broad visual language, while details identify their different powertrains. The sedan has a long wheelbase, short overhangs, flush door handles and a character line intended to make the body appear lower to the road.

At the front, the BMW grille and twin headlights form a new visual unit. The M Performance models add their own details, including M Yellow Lights. Combustion-engined 3 Series models can be specified with 18- to 20-inch light-alloy wheels. M Sport and M Sport Pro packages are available, but their price and standard equipment status depend on the selected version and market configuration.

Inside, the BMW Panoramic iDrive display and operating system bring together BMW Panoramic Vision, an optional 3D Head-Up Display, a central screen and a new multifunction steering wheel. The central display measures 17.9 inches. BMW Operating System X supports regular software updates and additional digital services, although the availability of individual functions can vary by country, model and equipment.

Chassis and production

BMW describes a front axle with double wishbones and spring struts, a five-link rear axle and more rigid anti-roll-bar mounts. The standard suspension uses newly developed dampers. Adaptive suspension and adaptive M suspension are optional on relevant models, while adaptive M suspension is standard on the M350 xDrive.

Wheel and tyre choices start at 18 inches and extend to mixed 19- and 20-inch configurations, with wider tyres on the rear axle. Such choices can affect ride comfort, grip, noise and fuel consumption. A comparison between two dealer quotations is meaningful only when the wheel, suspension and equipment specifications are also compared.

BMW will build the combustion-engined 3 Series at its Dingolfing plant in Bavaria. The main combustion powertrain components and engines are produced at BMW Group’s Steyr plant in Austria. The electric BMW i3 Sedan is built in Munich, while high-voltage batteries are supplied by BMW’s new plant in Irlbach-Straßkirchen.

What the starting price does and does not include

The €48,098 figure gives Romanian buyers a clear entry point for the new 318, but it does not describe a fully equipped car. The final cost depends on the chosen paint, wheels, interior, assistance systems, suspension and digital services. Delivery availability, dealer terms and any financing or fleet offer must also be confirmed separately.

The new BMW 3 Series therefore keeps combustion power in the range while adding an electric i3 Sedan and a future plug-in hybrid. For the petrol models available at launch, the Romanian price ladder runs from €48,098 for the 318 to €78,045 for the six-cylinder, all-wheel-drive M350 xDrive.
