The 2023 Kia Proceed GT stands out with shooting-brake styling, a 204 hp turbo petrol engine and a well-equipped cabin. We look at design, driving manners, safety kit and pricing in Romania.
The exterior design is dominated by the shooting-brake silhouette. GT Line trim adds sportier cues inspired by the Stinger, a narrower grille with red accents and a GT badge on one corner. Eighteen-inch wheels are standard on the GT.
The profile is defined by the large tailgate and sloping roof. Compared with the Ceed Sportswagon, the ProCeed GT is 5 mm longer and 43 mm lower, with a wheelbase of more than 2,650 mm, generous cabin space and a 594-litre boot.
Inside, materials and fit are generally good. GT sport seats differ from GT Line items, with stronger lateral support and a leather and Alcantara mix. The flat-bottom steering wheel carries a GT emblem on the aluminium trim.
A 4.2-inch display sits in the instrument cluster for information and settings, and an 8-inch touchscreen handles infotainment. The interface is straightforward and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Power comes from a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine rated at 204 hp, sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. In Sport mode the shifts hold longer and rev higher. Kia quotes 0–100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and a 225 km/h top speed.
The low centre of gravity and firm chassis give a sporting feel in corners. The car feels secure on twisty roads, and the Sport button on the console sharpens throttle and steering response.
Standard safety equipment includes lane keep assist, high-beam assist, tyre pressure monitoring and forward collision avoidance. The test car also had adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and lane-following assist.
Kia positioned the ProCeed GT below many rivals on price, helped in Romania by scrappage incentives. The test car started at €32,970 including VAT in GT Line trim — a fair ask for the equipment level. Distinctive styling may support resale versus Golf, 308, Megane or Astra estate alternatives.
The Proceed GT remains a practical family car with a sporting look and a credible alternative to conventional estates. The test drive backs it as a strong option if you want space, design and solid performance without a traditional break profile.
