Aion has introduced the GS7 plug-in hybrid SUV at the Paris Motor Show, ahead of its planned arrival in the UK in 2027. The GS7 is the first production model built on Aion’s new EV+ platform and the brand’s first move into hybrid and plug-in hybrid power in the UK. GAC’s Mexican market information lists the range-topping 4WD version with 494PS, a 36.3kWh battery and up to 150km of NEDC electric range.

The front, side and interior images come from GAC’s GS7 gallery. The rear image is from a reputable third-party automotive gallery; its reuse rights are not confirmed by the manufacturer.
European debut before the UK launch
Aion Auto UK’s 12 October 2026 announcement says the GS7 made its European debut in Paris and will arrive in Britain during 2027. The company has not yet published UK pricing, the final equipment structure or an order-opening date. The UK announcement describes the GS7 as a five-seat SUV that will be offered with both hybrid and plug-in hybrid power, although the complete market specification will be released closer to launch.
The move gives Aion a powertrain option beyond battery-electric vehicles in Britain. A plug-in hybrid can cover shorter daily journeys using the battery while retaining a combustion engine for longer trips. That does not mean the UK car will use exactly the same battery, calibration or equipment as the versions sold in Mexico. Aion has not announced Romanian availability either.
Aion Auto UK says its local range will grow by at least five cars over the next 18 months and could reach eight models by 2030. This is a UK product plan rather than a complete European timetable. Local pricing, import arrangements, servicing and warranty coverage must be confirmed separately for other markets.
Two powertrain versions in Mexico
GAC’s official Mexico page lists GS7 PHEV 2WD and GS7 PHEV 4WD versions. The 2WD model is rated at 386PS and uses a 21.3kWh battery, with a claimed 103km of NEDC electric range. The 4WD version raises output to 494PS, uses a 36.3kWh battery and is listed with 150km of NEDC electric range.
GAC describes the system as a series-parallel plug-in hybrid. Its presentation refers to three motors and up to 494PS for the range-topping version, with a claimed 0–100km/h time of 5.8 seconds. These figures describe the Mexican-market versions and should not be presented as the final UK or European specification before homologation.
The same Mexican presentation gives a combined range of up to 1,150km in its headline material. GAC does not provide every test condition beside that headline, so it should be treated as a market-specific manufacturer claim. Real-world distance will depend on battery charge, temperature, speed, driving style, payload, road conditions and climate-control use.
Exterior views and the requested image set
The GS7 has an upright SUV shape, a narrow light bar across the front and vertical LED elements at the bumper corners. Its door handles are flush with the body. GAC Mexico lists heated mirrors with automatic adjustment, memory and integrated indicators, plus 20-inch Blade Edge wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres.
The front image shows the full-width lighting signature and closed central treatment. The side image makes the long roof, dark glazing and family-SUV proportions easier to read. The interior image shows the individual seats and centre console, while the rear view highlights the tailgate and full-width lighting. The rear image comes from a third-party automotive image catalogue because no openly downloadable official rear asset with clear reuse terms was available in the accessible manufacturer material.
A cabin aimed at the premium end
GAC lists a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a head-up display for the GS7. The Mexican 4WD version can be equipped with an ADIGO Sound Pro system using up to 22 speakers. The official page also lists leather-trimmed seats, while the upper version adds features such as soft-close doors.
Aion Auto UK describes the GS7 as offering luxury-car refinement, a plush cabin and technology not previously seen on Aion models. It also says full details will be provided closer to the car’s arrival in the UK dealer network. The Mexican audio system, seat functions and trim materials should therefore be treated as market-specific until Aion confirms the British equipment list.
The GS7 is a five-seat vehicle. It is not a seven-seat SUV, which matters when comparing it with larger family models. Aion has not yet published a UK boot capacity figure or the final European cabin configurations.
What is still unknown for Europe
At the Paris debut, Aion confirmed the 2027 UK arrival but not the UK price, certified WLTP range, official fuel-consumption figure or delivery schedule. The Mexican figures explain the available technology but do not replace European certification. Romanian sales and local importer arrangements remain unconfirmed.
The plug-in system can suit drivers who charge regularly and make many short trips. On longer journeys, the combustion engine adds flexibility, but real fuel consumption will depend heavily on charging habits and route length. A published electric-range figure should not be confused with a guarantee of that distance in winter or at motorway speeds.
Before the GS7 can be assessed properly for Romania, buyers will need local pricing, battery warranty terms, charging power, standard equipment and an authorised service network. Until those details arrive, the GS7 is a 2027 European launch prospect rather than a model already available to Romanian customers.
