BMW M and BMW Motorrad have prepared a family of nine models for the Nürburgring’s centenary, which will be marked in 2027. The “100 Jahre Nürburgring” edition comprises six BMW M cars and three motorcycles, all identifiable by green paint inspired by the circuit and by graphics dedicated to the Nordschleife.

The car range includes the BMW M2, M3 Sedan, M3 Touring, M4 Coupé, M5 Sedan and M5 Touring. They are joined by the M 1000 RR, M 1000 R and M 1000 XR motorcycles. BMW has not yet announced availability or prices for Romania.

Nürburgring green and the silhouette of the circuit

All nine models use the historic Nürburgring Green shade developed for this edition. The design integrates the “100 Years” badge, the inscription “Nürburgring since 1927” and the outline of the Nordschleife.

On the cars, the graphics appear on the front doors, C-pillar or rear wings, depending on the model. The M2, M3 Sedan, M4 Coupé and M5 Sedan have anniversary stripes applied over the carbon-fibre roof, while the Touring versions use the same theme on the steel roof.

The palette combines green with light grey and black. Some models receive green accents on the wheels and around the grille, but buyers can also choose Black Sapphire metallic bodywork.

Inside, black upholstery is complemented by green and white stitching. The six-cylinder models have an M steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara, with a 12 o’clock marker, while the M5 and M5 Touring get a wheel with the same colour theme.

What BMW M Ignite technology adds

The anniversary M2, M3 and M4 use the BMW M Ignite system, a pre-chamber ignition technology patented by the manufacturer. The solution is intended for inline-six engines and aims to improve efficiency under high load.

According to BMW, the system reduces consumption in intensive track use and helps meet the Euro 7 standard without a drop in performance. The technology was already introduced in engine production for the M2, M3 and M4 in July and August 2026, so it is not merely a decorative extra of the anniversary series.

BMW has not communicated new power figures for these editions. The M5 Sedan and M5 Touring keep the M Hybrid propulsion of the base models, while the official release emphasises the visual configuration and the specific equipment.

The motorcycles are limited to 100 examples each

The M 1000 RR, M 1000 R and M 1000 XR will each be produced in 100 examples worldwide. They receive a tank painted with the silhouette of the circuit, an individually inscribed “one of 100” intake-box cover, carbon wheels with green accents and an Alcantara-look seat embroidered with the number 100.

The specification also includes the M Track pack, a swingarm and rear frame finished in black. For the M 1000 RR and M 1000 R a protection kit, a dedicated paddock mat and a rear-wheel stand are also offered.

The limit of 100 units is confirmed only for the motorcycles. BMW has not published a total number of examples for the six cars, so they should not be presented as series of 100 cars each.

When they can be ordered

The BMW M3 Sedan, M3 Touring, M4 Coupé, M5 Sedan and M5 Touring can be ordered in selected markets from September 2026. The M2 will follow in January 2027. The manufacturer will announce the order calendar for the three motorcycles separately.

The global release does not list every country in which the cars will arrive. Appearance of the edition in the German or British configurator therefore does not automatically confirm it will be sold in Romania.

Why the Nürburgring matters to BMW M

The Nürburgring opened in 1927, and the Nordschleife loop measures 20.8 km and has 73 corners. Large changes in elevation, varied surfaces and a rapid succession of turns have made the circuit a landmark for developing high-performance cars.

BMW M tests chassis, brakes, aerodynamics, propulsion systems and temperature control here before models enter production. Frank van Meel, BMW M’s director, describes the circuit as the brand’s second home, and the anniversary edition makes that relationship visible through colour and graphics, without turning every model into a track version homologated for the road.
