Dacia Sandero and Duster led the brand’s 2025 sales

Dacia’s 2025 sales results were built around two familiar nameplates. The company reported 289,295 Sandero vehicles and 193,974 Duster vehicles sold worldwide during the year. Those figures are global model volumes reported by Dacia; they are not registrations in one country and they should not be read as a complete worldwide ranking of every Renault Group model.

The same release says Sandero was Europe’s best-selling passenger car across all sales channels for the second consecutive year. It has also been the best-selling vehicle among European retail customers every year since 2017. Duster held a different position: Dacia described it as the second best-selling SUV among retail customers in Europe. The distinction matters because the two claims use different segments and different sales-channel definitions.

Dacia grew faster than the wider market

Dacia sold 697,408 vehicles worldwide in 2025, an increase of 3.1% compared with 2024. The company also says the brand passed 10 million vehicles sold since its 2004 relaunch under Renault Group. In Europe, Dacia registered 601,765 vehicles, up 2.9% year on year.

Within the European retail passenger-car market, Dacia reached a 7.9% share and moved into second place among brands. Its reported share was 4.0% in the combined passenger-car and light-commercial-vehicle scope, and 4.5% for passenger cars. These figures use the European scope and definitions set out in the manufacturer’s release, rather than a global market denominator.

Renault Group reported 2,336,807 vehicles sold worldwide in 2025. Renault contributed 1,628,030 units, Dacia 697,408 and Alpine 10,970. On those reported totals, Dacia represented roughly three tenths of the group’s worldwide volume. Renault Group’s group-level announcement does not provide a full model-by-model global ranking. The Sandero and Duster volumes come from Dacia’s own commercial-results release.

Sandero’s European lead survived a global decline

Sandero’s 289,295 worldwide sales were 6.5% lower than in 2024. That decline does not contradict Dacia’s statement that the model remained Europe’s sales leader across all channels. A global model volume includes markets outside Europe, while a European ranking covers a defined regional market. A model can therefore lose volume globally and retain the top position in a particular region.

Dacia says more than 3.5 million Sandero vehicles have been sold worldwide since the nameplate was launched. The model occupies the compact passenger-car part of the range and is sold in several body and powertrain configurations depending on market. The official 2025 results do not break the global Sandero number down by body style, engine or country, so those subdivisions cannot be inferred from the headline total.

Duster reached 193,974 worldwide sales in 2025. Dacia says more than 2.8 million Duster vehicles have been sold since the SUV was launched in 2010. The current model is positioned in a different part of the market from Sandero, with a taller body and SUV-focused equipment. Dacia’s European retail claim places it second among SUVs, not second among all passenger cars.

The two models therefore work as complementary volume anchors. Sandero addresses buyers looking for a compact passenger car, while Duster serves customers who want an SUV format. That conclusion is based on the models’ categories and the company’s reported sales structure; it does not imply that every Sandero buyer would otherwise choose a Duster.

Bigster widened the range in the C-SUV segment

Dacia’s 2025 result also included newer products. Bigster, launched commercially during the year, recorded 67,573 worldwide sales. In the second half of 2025, Dacia says it became Europe’s best-selling C-SUV among retail customers. The release does not claim that Bigster led every European SUV category, nor does it publish a complete competitor table.

Spring sold 35,034 vehicles worldwide, a 53% increase over 2024. Dacia says it became Europe’s best-selling A-segment electric vehicle across all channels. Jogger added 73,695 worldwide sales and entered the European top five in the C segment when SUVs are excluded. Together, these results show that the brand’s volume is distributed across passenger cars, SUVs, a seven-seat-oriented family model and a small electric car.

Electrification is moving through the range gradually

Dacia reported more than 113,000 hybrid vehicles sold in 2025, up 121.7% from 2024. Renault Group’s results release says hybrids accounted for 19.2% of Dacia’s European passenger-car sales, while Dacia’s own summary says one in four vehicles sold was electrified. The difference reflects the scope used in each statement and should not be turned into one universal percentage for every market.

The figures also do not mean Sandero and Duster have become exclusively hybrid or electric products. Dacia continues to sell different powertrain types, with availability varying by country and trim level. For a buyer, the relevant questions remain practical: whether a charging point is available, how much of the driving is urban, whether a hybrid premium is justified and which version is actually offered by the local importer.

For 2026, Dacia has announced a new A-segment electric vehicle and a new C-segment car with internal-combustion and hybrid options. The company has also announced the hybrid-G 150 4x4 powertrain for Duster and Bigster. These are manufacturer plans and product announcements; they do not alter the 2025 sales totals or guarantee identical launch timing in every market.

The Romanian connection is clear through Dacia’s Mioveni base, but the official worldwide release does not provide a complete Romania-only split for Sandero and Duster. Local market conclusions require registration data from Romanian authorities or industry bodies. What the available official data confirms is more limited and more useful: Sandero led Europe’s passenger-car ranking under Dacia’s stated methodology, Duster was second among European retail SUVs, and the two models were the brand’s largest reported global volumes in 2025.
