First images of the Kia PV7: the electric van will be presented on 14 September
Kia has published the first official images of the PV7, an electric van larger than the current PV5. The world premiere is scheduled for 14 September 2026, on press day at the IAA Transportation show in Hanover, and the model’s market introduction is planned for 2027.
The manufacturer has not yet released figures for the battery, range, motor power, cargo-compartment volume or payload. That information is expected with the full presentation in Germany.
The Kia PV7 moves from concept to production model
The PV7 is the second vehicle built for the PBV range — “Platform Beyond Vehicle” — after the PV5. Kia presented a concept with this name at CES 2024, but the images published now show the version that is approaching series production.
The vehicle uses the E-GMP.S electric platform, developed specifically for vehicles that can be configured according to the customer’s activity. Kia says the PV7 will enter the light commercial vehicle segment and will offer more space and a greater carrying capacity than the PV5.
The plan presented to investors envisages the launch of the PV7 in 2027, followed by the larger PV9 model in 2029. The company aims for its PBV vehicle family to reach 232,000 units sold annually by 2030, but that figure is a commercial target, not a guaranteed result.

What the first images of the Kia PV7 show
The PV7 has a tall silhouette, with a single volume and a windscreen pushed towards the front. The shape is typical of vans that prioritise interior space, but Kia tries to differentiate it through the black surfaces of the bonnet and pillars.
The light clusters are vertical and placed at the extremities of the body. The front end has no conventional grille, and the central area of the bumper is closed. At the rear, the vertical lights continue almost to the roof, to leave as wide an opening as possible for the cargo-compartment doors.
The images do not show the cabin, the loading floor or the door mechanism. It is not yet possible to establish whether the vehicle photographed is the Cargo version, a passenger configuration or only a prototype used for teasers.
The concept’s dimensions are not yet production specifications
The PV7 concept previously presented by Kia measured 5.27 metres in length, 2.065 metres in width and 2.12 metres in height, with a wheelbase of 3.39 metres. These figures describe the design study and give an indication of the class the model will enter.
Kia has not confirmed that the production version keeps the concept’s exact dimensions. By comparison, the standard PV5 Cargo is under 4.7 metres long, which places the future PV7 in a higher category for overall size and potential cargo volume.
The low floor position, made possible by the electric architecture, should simplify loading. The manufacturer has not, however, published the sill height, useful volume or maximum permitted weight, so a complete comparison with the Ford E-Transit, Volkswagen e-Transporter or Mercedes-Benz eVito is not yet possible.

Configurations for cargo, passenger transport and conversions
Kia describes the PV7 as a base for professional activities, passenger transport and recreational uses. The E-GMP.S platform is designed to allow several types of bodywork and interior layouts, along the lines of the PV5 range, which has Cargo, Passenger and Chassis Cab versions.
The company has not yet announced the list of PV7 variants available at launch. It is likely that the range will include at least a closed van and a passenger configuration, but these must be confirmed at the presentation on 14 September.
Software will play an important role for fleet customers. Kia’s PBV strategy includes vehicle management, remote updates and the integration of solutions developed by conversion specialists. It is not clear which services will be available in Europe and which will require a subscription.
When the Kia PV7 could arrive in Romania
Kia has confirmed a global launch of the PV7 for 2027, but it has not published a separate timetable for Romania. European prices and the service network for van customers will matter as much as range, because the model will compete mainly for company and fleet purchases.
The premiere takes place on 14 September, and the IAA Transportation show is open to the public between 15 and 20 September 2026. Until then, any figure concerning range or battery capacity should be treated as an estimate, not a Kia specification.
