Škoda Karoq Black Edition marks one million examples built. What the new top version adds
Škoda has added a Black Edition version to the Karoq range, presented as production passed one million examples. The new trim starts from the Karoq Sportline and gathers equipment that until now was available separately or as an option, from the panoramic roof and Canton audio system to adaptive suspension.
Orders will open in the United Kingdom on 1 October 2026, and first deliveries are scheduled by the end of the year. Škoda has not yet announced whether the Black Edition will also be introduced in Romania.
What sets the Black Edition apart
On the outside, the model gets 19-inch Vega wheels finished in black, black roof rails, black mirror housings and a grille in the same colour. The package also includes sportier-looking bumpers, a rear diffuser and black Škoda and Karoq lettering on the tailgate.
The colour palette is limited to metallic monochrome shades. The Black Edition does not, however, change the body shape or the SUV’s dimensions; it is a trim of the current Karoq generation, not a facelift or a new generation.
Inside are Sportline Suite leather seats, a black headliner and a panoramic glass roof. The standard list includes LED ambient lighting, a heated three-spoke sports steering wheel, paddles on DSG versions and aluminium pedals.
Passengers get heated seats in both the front and the rear, three-zone automatic climate control and a Canton audio system. A heated windscreen is also part of the standard equipment.
Adaptive suspension and Matrix LED headlights as standard
The Black Edition has Matrix LED headlights as standard, with adaptive lighting, a cornering function and a poor-weather mode. Dynamically, the specification includes Dynamic Chassis Control, which changes damper response, as well as progressive steering.
These two items matter for the difference versus a version configured mainly for appearance. Adaptive suspension can vary between a more comfortable and a firmer response, depending on the selected driving mode.

Four powertrain configurations
For the British market, Škoda offers four engine and transmission combinations. The 1.5 TSI 150 hp petrol engine can be ordered with a six-speed manual gearbox or the seven-speed DSG automatic.
The 2.0 TSI 190 hp petrol version has a DSG gearbox and all-wheel drive as standard. The diesel alternative is a 2.0 TDI 150 hp, also with DSG and all-wheel drive.
The Black Edition does not introduce a hybrid powertrain. All three engines belong to Volkswagen Group’s EVO family, and the range structure remains close to that already used for the Karoq Sportline.
Will the Škoda Karoq Black Edition reach Romania?
At the time of the announcement, the edition is confirmed for the United Kingdom. The Romanian importer has not published a price or a local timetable for the Black Edition, so there is not yet an official basis for orders on the Romanian market.
In Romania, the Karoq Sportline version is listed by Škoda from €39,136, including VAT. It has 18-inch wheels, Sportline design elements and a heated sports steering wheel. The price is a reference for the version on which the Black Edition is based, not an estimated price for the new edition.
If the trim is brought to the Romanian market, the price difference will depend on the engine and the equipment included locally. Until an announcement from Škoda Romania, the British specification and availability should not automatically be treated as valid for Romania.
Karoq has passed one million units produced
The Karoq entered production in 2017 as a compact SUV positioned between the Kamiq and the Kodiaq. Škoda says it has so far built more than one million examples worldwide.
The Black Edition marks that threshold without a generational technical change. Its role is to offer, in a single trim level, the comfort and chassis equipment at the top of the Karoq options list.
