Škoda is marking 30 years of the modern Octavia with two special versions introduced for the United Kingdom: the Edition 30 and the Octavia vRS Plus. They do not serve the same purpose. The Edition 30 focuses on standard equipment for everyday use, while the vRS Plus starts with the performance-oriented vRS and adds comfort and personalisation features.
Auto Express reported the launch on 8 October 2026. The equipment and engine details in this article refer to the UK market. Škoda has announced anniversary versions with different specifications in other countries, so the Edition 30 name should not be treated as a single identical European configuration.
What the Edition 30 adds
In the UK range, Edition 30 sits between the SE Technology and SE L trim levels. It is offered in both hatchback and estate body styles. Standard equipment includes 17-inch silver Aries alloy wheels, the Lodge Design Selection interior, tinted rear side windows, a rear-view camera and adaptive cruise control.
These features do not turn the Octavia into a sports car. They target common daily tasks: the camera helps with parking, tinted glass changes the light entering the rear cabin and adaptive cruise control can adjust speed to traffic ahead. None of these systems removes the driver’s responsibility or allows unsupervised autonomous driving.
Škoda’s anniversary equipment varies by market. The Czech Edition 30 announcement, for example, lists features such as Matrix-LED headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels, while the UK product page lists 17-inch wheels and its own specification. Buyers comparing cars across countries therefore need to check the local configurator rather than assuming that every Edition 30 has the same equipment.
Three Edition 30 powertrains
The UK Edition 30 can be ordered with a 1.5 TSI petrol engine producing 116 PS, a 1.5 TSI e-TEC mild-hybrid producing 150 PS and a 2.0 TDI diesel producing 150 PS. The current UK listings show the Edition 30 versions with a DSG automatic transmission.
The e-TEC is a mild-hybrid system, not a plug-in hybrid and not the full-hybrid system Škoda announced separately for the Octavia. It does not provide a meaningful electric-only range or require external charging. It can recover energy and support the combustion engine in selected situations, with the battery maintained while the car is driven.
Škoda’s WLTP figures vary with the engine, body style and equipment. WLTP is useful for comparing vehicles tested under the same procedure, but real consumption depends on temperature, traffic, load, tyres and driving style. The manufacturer’s published figures should therefore be read as test-cycle data, not as a guarantee for every journey.
The vRS Plus keeps the existing performance hardware
The Octavia vRS Plus is the anniversary version for buyers who want the sportier model. Auto Express reports no mechanical changes. The car keeps its 2.0-litre TSI engine with 265 PS, a seven-speed DSG gearbox and front-wheel drive.
Škoda UK lists 370 Nm of torque. The Octavia vRS hatchback can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 6.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h, or 155 mph. The estate can have a slightly different acceleration figure. These are official specifications, not independent test results.
The changes concern equipment. The vRS Plus includes a Canton sound system and an Exclusive Paint finish. The four colours mentioned for the new version are Tangerine Orange, Cosmic Green, Royal Green and Dragon Skin. Auto Express says the first two are exclusive to the vRS Plus within the UK offer, while Royal Green and Dragon Skin are connected with Škoda UK’s broader special-colour programme.
At launch, the vRS Plus price had not been announced and orders were due to open in mid-October. There is no basis for giving it a Romanian price or delivery date without a local Škoda specification.
Why the model is celebrating in 2026
The modern Octavia entered production in Mladá Boleslav on 3 September 1996. Škoda Storyboard notes that the name had been used for an earlier model produced from 1959 to 1971, but the 2026 anniversary concerns the modern revival. The first generation gained a Combi estate in 1998, four-wheel drive in 1999 and the first Octavia RS in 2000.
Almost 7.9 million Octavias from four generations have been produced over three decades. The current generation was presented in 2019, and production today takes place in Mladá Boleslav, Kvasiny and Kostanay. The range includes petrol, diesel and mild-hybrid options, and Škoda has also announced a full-hybrid Octavia in October 2026.
That separate full-hybrid system is Škoda’s first of its type. It combines a 1.5 TSI evo2 combustion engine with two electric motors, a single-speed automatic transmission and energy recuperation. Two system outputs, 100 kW and 125 kW, are available, and the system can enable short electric-only driving without external charging. This technology is not part of the vRS Plus description, which remains a 2.0 TSI performance model.
What it means for buyers
Edition 30 and vRS Plus are aimed at different customers. Edition 30 adds useful equipment to a conventional family-car specification and offers petrol, mild-hybrid and diesel options. The vRS Plus keeps the 265 PS engine and adds audio and paint choices without changing the powertrain or chassis.
Edition 30 is already on sale in the UK, while the vRS Plus was due to open for orders in mid-October 2026. Romanian availability, pricing and equipment may differ. The anniversary badge does not guarantee the same specification in every country, so local buyers should check the importer’s configurator.
Both versions mark the same three-decade milestone, but they do so in different ways: one adds everyday equipment, while the other makes the existing vRS package more distinctive.
