The new Audi A2 e-tron has a Romanian starting price of €38,800. It is the brand's compact electric entry model and is offered with four power outputs and three battery sizes. Audi quotes up to 646 km of range under the WLTP procedure for the most efficiency-focused configuration.

The A2 e-tron is not a facelift of the earlier Audi A2. It is a new electric model family whose name refers to Audi's compact efficiency model from more than two decades ago. The new car applies that compact idea to a battery-electric platform, a digital cabin and a body designed around aerodynamic efficiency. Audi develops and builds it at Ingolstadt for European customers.

Four power outputs and three batteries

Audi Romania's technical information describes the 125 kW rear-wheel-drive version with a gross 52 kWh battery and 350 Nm of maximum torque. Its top speed is 160 km/h and 0–100 km/h takes 8.8 seconds. The published kerb mass is 1,926 kg and boot capacity is 396 litres, increasing to 1,336 litres with the rear bench folded.

The wider range also includes 140 kW, 170 kW and 240 kW versions. Depending on the powertrain, the battery sizes are 52, 61 or 84 kWh. Audi Romania lists 326 hp and a 5.7-second 0–100 km/h time for the 240 kW model. Those are top-version figures and should not be attributed to the €38,800 entry model.

Audi quotes energy consumption as low as 12.8 kWh/100 km under WLTP and a maximum range of 646 km. The headline range is not available with every motor and battery combination. Wheels, tyres, temperature, speed, traffic and heating or air-conditioning use all influence real-world consumption. WLTP provides a comparable laboratory procedure; it is not a guarantee of a particular trip distance.

Charging and bidirectional power

The A2 e-tron supports DC fast charging, with Audi Romania quoting up to 210 km of additional range in ten minutes at up to 170 kW for the relevant configuration. A 10–80% charge can take about 24 minutes under specified conditions. The actual time depends on the battery temperature, the state of charge and the charging station's available power.

Bidirectional charging is available as an option. Vehicle-to-Load can supply external equipment through an adapter. Vehicle-to-Home can make the battery part of a compatible home energy system when the required hardware and installation are present. These features are not automatically standard on every Romanian-market version and need to be checked in the final specification.

Audi's e-tron route planner can include charging stops in navigation. For a compact car intended to cover longer trips as well as urban journeys, the quality of route planning can matter as much as the maximum range figure. The time, location and reliability of charging stops determine how the car works in everyday use.

Compact footprint, flexible cabin

The A2 e-tron combines short exterior proportions with a 2.77-metre wheelbase. Audi gives the car a drag coefficient of 0.24 and offers a 1.6-square-metre panoramic glass roof. The rear bench folds in a 40:20:40 split. Boot space is listed at 396 litres, or 1,336 litres with the seats folded.

The digital dashboard uses an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus display and a curved 12.8-inch MMI touch display. Audi Assistant with artificial-intelligence functions and the e-tron route planner are part of the digital equipment. The centre console introduces Audi's Fidlock fastening system for accessories, while wireless charging can accommodate two smartphones according to the Romanian product information.

The equipment list should still be checked against the Romanian configuration. Audi says that specifications, equipment and prices can change, and that online information is not a binding offer. The entry price therefore cannot be compared directly with a 170 kW car, the 84 kWh battery or the 240 kW model.

Driver assistance equipment

Audi lists emergency braking assistance, evasive assist, attention assist, adaptive cruise control, parking system plus and a reversing camera among the standard equipment. Adaptive driving assistance, trained parking and Matrix LED headlights may depend on the selected version or optional packages.

This distinction is relevant when calculating the real purchase price. A customer looking at the starting figure should ask which battery, power output, wheels, charging functions and assistance systems are included. The model's range and performance can change considerably as the specification moves up the line.

Built in Ingolstadt

Audi says the A2 e-tron is built at its main plant in Ingolstadt. The company shortened the time from development to production readiness by 21 months compared with previous vehicle projects and continues to use existing robots and production equipment. Audi announced the first deliveries for December 2026 in the European launch plan.

For Romania, the delivery date for a particular order depends on the dealer, configuration and available allocation. The car targets buyers who want a compact premium electric vehicle without moving to a larger SUV. Its €38,800 entry price is therefore only the beginning of the comparison: battery size, power, charging equipment and options determine how much the car costs and how it can be used.
