Bugatti restored a one-off Veyron at 20 years, in Molsheim

Bugatti published the release for La Maison Pur Sang Veyron 20 Years on 20 August 2026, a Veyron restored as a one-off at the factory in Molsheim (Alsace). The brand ties it to two decades since the model that opened Bugatti’s contemporary production, and to the La Maison Pur Sang heritage programme, launched at Rétromobile in Paris in 2020. The presentation coincided with Pebble Beach; handover to the owner was also mentioned in the Monterey Car Week recap.

It is not a new series Veyron and it is not part of Programme Solitaire, the one-off coachbuilding programme that produced Destrier and F.K.P. Hommage. It is an existing car, commissioned in the restoration workshop. Bugatti has not published the chassis number, this car’s engine variant, how long the work took, or the price.

What changed versus a delivery Veyron

According to the 20 August 2026 release, the project combines a factory restoration with a reconfiguration requested by the owner. The body keeps Veyron proportions, but receives a colour combination the brand describes as unprecedented on this model: Rouge Rembrandt, a shade developed for Tourbillon, and Petrol Blue, associated with Chiron.

Other changes announced by Bugatti:

  • Machiavelli wheels remade at 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear, so they can take tyres in Chiron sizes;
  • three-dimensional mesh elements at the front, side and rear air intakes;
  • cabin in Magnolia leather, with Mocassin stitching on the steering wheel and gear selector;
  • a “20 years of Veyron” emblem between the seats;
  • a centre console with Côte de Genève finishing, taken from watch-movement decoration.

The brand has not said whether the engine, transmission or electronics were remapped. Until a new spec sheet appears, the performance figures remain those of the series Veyron this car started from — a variant the release does not name.

The La Maison Pur Sang programme

La Maison Pur Sang operates at Bugatti’s headquarters in Molsheim. At the 2020 launch, then-president Stephan Winkelmann announced authenticity certification and, gradually, factory restoration for the brand’s historic cars, with Luigi Galli as specialist for tradition and certification. The programme page on bugatti.com says the offer covers authenticity checks, restoration and reconfiguration, for models of all ages.

In the 2026 release, Bugatti distinguishes two paths: maintenance and restoration as faithful as possible to delivery condition, versus a more expressive route, with new materials and details, still held by the brand’s specialists. Veyron 20 Years is presented as the most complete form of the second path. With the Pebble Beach reveal, the brand also opened a configurator for Veyron, with some of the programme’s options.

Frank Heyl, design director, says any intervention on the original Veyron formula must start with respect for the car. Alexis Ploix, director of after sales and customer relations, ties the work to details — wheels, tyres, cabin, maintenance — and to the capacity of the Molsheim workshop. Luigi Galli defines the programme as protection of authenticity, provenance and collector value.

It is not the first Veyron to go through La Maison Pur Sang. In 2020–2021, Bugatti certified, among others, the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport 2.1 prototype, returned to the specification of the 2008 Pebble Beach launch. Another project, published separately, returned a pre-series Veyron Super Sport World Record Edition to specification. The 2026 example is not that car: here the restoration includes colours and details that did not exist on the delivery Veyron.

How many Veyrons exist, and which figures still belong to the series model

Veyron production ended after 450 examples, of which 300 coupés and 150 roadsters, according to the Bugatti release from February 2015, when the last one was sold, a Grand Sport Vitesse “La Finale”. The series range, also from that release:

The Veyron 16.4 was presented in 2005. The engine is an 8.0-litre W16 with four turbos. The type-approved top speed of the base version is 407 km/h, a figure entered in the approval documents after TÜV Süd measurements, according to Bugatti. Super Sport rose, also officially, to 431.072 km/h. These figures describe the series model, not a measurement published for the 2026 one-off.

In 2015, Bugatti announced an average price, including options, of €2.3 million for Veyrons sold at that time. That is not the price of this restoration and cannot be used as an offer.

What it means for Romania

The work is done in Molsheim. A Romanian owner who wanted the same path would, according to the brand, go through a Bugatti partner or contact the factory directly, not through a local price list. The configurator opened at Pebble Beach is not an order channel for a new Veyron: production stopped in 2015.

Bugatti classifieds in Romania, when they appear, are occasional and are not part of this factory programme. A Veyron brought in from another EU country remains a collector car, with service, parts and any heritage work concentrated in Alsace.

The one-off should not be confused with Programme Solitaire cars, built from scratch as coachbuilding projects, for example Destrier. Here the base remains a Veyron that was already manufactured.
