Ford has reopened in Europe the selection programme for Mustang GTD buyers. Applications opened on 14 September and close on 16 October 2026, and the allocation announced for the region is limited to 500 cars.
Romania is among the markets included in the programme. The estimated price indicated for the country is €359,900, before options. Submitting an application is not the same as a firm order: Ford selects the customers who will receive the right to buy the car.

Prices differ sharply from country to country
According to information published by Motor1, the Mustang GTD is estimated at €359,900 in Romania and Germany and about €366,000 in Belgium. Local taxes take the figure to around €480,000 in Norway and €525,500 in Austria.
The differences matter because Ford does not sell the GTD like an ordinary Mustang. The model is produced in a limited series, and the application process lets the manufacturer choose who receives an allocation. Ford has not said how many of the 500 European units might reach Romania.

The new round also includes the Spirit of America configuration. It combines a white body with red and blue stripes, colours inspired by the three-bar Mustang emblem. The extended colour programme can make each example different, but options will raise the final price.
European homologation remains an essential condition
Ford warns that the European homologation process is still under way. If approval for use on public roads is not obtained in a given market, the car will be deliverable there only for circuit use.
That clarification is relevant for applicants in Romania as well. Before signing a contract, the buyer must receive in writing the homologation status, registration conditions and any usage restrictions. A high price does not automatically guarantee the right to drive on public roads.
5.2-litre V8, 826 hp and a rear-mounted gearbox
The Mustang GTD uses a mechanically supercharged 5.2-litre V8. The European specification indicated by Ford reaches 826 hp and 900 Nm, and top speed is about 325 km/h.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed gearbox mounted on the rear axle. The carbon-fibre propshaft and transaxle architecture contribute to a mass distribution close to 50:50.

The body makes extensive use of carbon fibre, the Multimatic DSSV suspension is semi-active, and the aerodynamics include a DRS system to reduce drag. Ground clearance can be lowered by 40 mm in the circuit mode.
Ford positions the GTD as a rival to models such as the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, not as a simply more powerful version of the production Mustang. The car was developed around circuit performance, and the Nordschleife was one of its main test grounds.
For Romania, the main unknowns remain the actual number of allocations and the final form of homologation. The Ford Romania page dedicated to the Mustang GTD presents the car’s characteristics, but accepted applicants will have to confirm commercial and registration conditions directly with a dealership.
