The Spanish brand Galloper is returning to the market through the newly formed company Galloper Iberica, with two 4x4 models produced in China and based on Nissan vehicles. The launch is scheduled for October 2026 in Spain, followed by expansion into other European markets, according to Carscoops.
The range starts with the Galloper Ayanet pick-up, derived from the Nissan Navara D23, and the Galloper Gredos SUV, based on the Nissan Terra, a body-on-frame model. The prices communicated start at €26,000 for the Ayanet and €39,000 for the Gredos.
Mitsubishi engine, ZF gearbox and 4x4 drive
Both models use a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder Mitsubishi petrol engine. The unit develops 162 kW (221 hp) and 360 Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed ZF automatic and a BorgWarner 4x4 system.
The layout includes a low-range transfer case and a locking rear differential, elements that keep the vehicles oriented towards unpaved roads and towing. Galloper Iberica says the engine meets Euro 6 and intends to introduce mild-hybrid and LPG versions later. The timetable and specifications for those variants have not been detailed.
Built in China, with possible future assembly in Spain
The vehicles are manufactured by Anhui Coronet in China, under a licence from Zhengzhou Nissan, the joint venture between Dongfeng and Nissan. Galloper Iberica is considering moving assembly to Spain, but has not announced an investment, a plant or a date for that possible step.
Technically, the Ayanet and Gredos are not entirely new models. The body largely keeps the Nissan shapes, and the exterior changes are limited to the Galloper badge and lettering. The interior gets large infotainment screens taken from the Dongfeng/Oting Paladin, a model already sold in China and in Eastern Europe.
The company says it wants 60 dealers by the end of the year. For buyers in Romania, availability is not confirmed: Galloper Iberica has mentioned only a later expansion in Europe, without publishing a list of target countries or local prices.
The Galloper name was associated in the 1990s with off-road vehicles derived from the Mitsubishi Pajero. The current return follows the same formula, but with Nissan bases produced in China and a Mitsubishi engine.
