Kia presented the PV7 on 14 September at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover. It is the second dedicated electric model in the PBV family, after the PV5, and will be offered in Cargo versions for goods and Passenger versions for people.
According to information published by the Yonhap agency, the first versions sold will be Cargo Long and Passenger Long, both about 5.3 metres. The launch in South Korea and Europe is planned for the second half of 2027. The presentation in Germany therefore does not mean the vehicle can already be bought in Romania.
Two batteries and an 800 V architecture
Kia announces NCM batteries of 71.5 and 96.2 kWh, front-wheel drive and up to 200 kW, about 272 hp, and 420 Nm. An all-wheel-drive version is planned later.
Yonhap reports a range of more than 460 km and charging from 10% to 80% in about 25 minutes at a 350 kW rapid station. Kia specifies that the range figure refers to Cargo Long Range, in the WLTP cycle, and that specifications depend on configuration and market. Station power should not be confused with the maximum power the vehicle can absorb continuously.
For a commercial vehicle, charging time has to be assessed together with the daily route and available stops. A catalogue range does not guarantee the same distance with a full load, in winter or on a motorway.
Cargo: up to three Euro pallets
Cargo Long offers up to 6.1 m³ of volume and 1,165 kg payload. The load floor sits 550 mm from the ground, and the space can take three Euro pallets. The High Roof variant reaches 8 m³; the maximum payload of 1,200 kg is announced for Cargo Compact, not for every version.
Those differences matter when specifying a fleet. Maximum volume and maximum payload belong to different variants, and the choice should follow the size and mass of the goods carried, not a single figure from the presentation.
Passenger: up to nine occupants
Passenger can carry up to nine people in international markets, while the 11-seat configuration is intended for Korea. The seven-seat version has removable seats mounted on long rails. The E-GMP.S platform allows a flat floor, and the V2L function can power external equipment.
The PV7 thus enters the segment of electric vehicles for transfers, crew transport and commercial work. For Romanian buyers, a comparison with other vans should include the price of the needed configuration, servicing, charging cost and remaining capacity when every seat is occupied. Kia did not announce in this presentation a price or a separate launch date for Romania.
The range will be expanded gradually. Yonhap mentions 23 variants and conversions planned globally after the debut of the two Long versions in 2027.
