Lexus IS gets a green edition for 2027, limited to 350 units

Lexus continues its annual special editions for the IS sedan with a new Special Appearance Package for the 2027 model year. The configuration is recognisable by Envious Green paint, black BBS wheels and green stitching in the cabin, but it also includes equipment that affects on-road behaviour.

Only 350 units will be assembled, all destined for the North American market. Lexus has not announced an equivalent version for Europe or Romania, and the price will be communicated closer to the commercial launch scheduled by the end of 2026.

What the Special Appearance package brings

The edition starts from the IS 350 F Sport. The main visual difference is the Envious Green shade, paired with 19-inch forged BBS wheels finished in black. Triple-projector LED headlights, a glass roof and red calipers complete the configuration presented by the manufacturer.

In the cabin, the F Sport seats are trimmed in perforated NuLuxe synthetic material, with Ultrasuede inserts and green stitching. Lexus also uses satin-chrome finish trim. There are no structural interior changes, but a combination of materials and colours reserved for this series.

The standard equipment list is broader than the aesthetic-package name would suggest. Included are:

  • AVS adaptive suspension with a sport setting;
  • Eco, Normal, Sport S, Sport S+ and Custom modes;
  • a Torsen limited-slip rear differential, only for the rear-wheel-drive version;
  • Mark Levinson audio;
  • a panoramic camera and parking assistance;
  • an electric rear-window sunshade;
  • a Smart Access card instead of a conventional spare key;
  • the Technology package with traffic-jam assist, assisted lane change and front cross-traffic warning.

The same naturally aspirated V6

The Special Appearance Package does not bring extra power. Under the bonnet remains the naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6, rated in the US specification at 311 hp and 280 lb-ft. Converted into metric units, the figures are about 315 hp and 380 Nm.

North American customers can choose between two configurations. The rear-wheel-drive model uses an eight-speed automatic transmission and receives the Torsen differential. The all-wheel-drive version is paired with a six-speed automatic, but does not get the limited-slip rear differential.

That difference matters more than colour for a buyer interested in dynamic behaviour. All-wheel drive offers an advantage on low-grip surfaces, while the combination of rear drive and Torsen keeps the classic architecture of a sport sedan.

An equipment edition, not a new Lexus IS F

The name can create the expectation of a performance version, but Lexus presents it explicitly as a Special Appearance Package. The engine, power and transmissions are those of the IS 350, and the manufacturer has not communicated changes to the brakes or increases in engine performance.

The Handling package does, however, bring a functional difference versus a simply equipped IS. Adaptive suspension can vary damping according to the driving mode, and the Torsen differential helps send torque to the rear wheel that can use it more effectively.

Lexus has launched such IS configurations every year since 2022. The 2026 edition, also limited to 350 units in North America, used matte white Hakugin paint and a black-and-white interior. For 2027, the main change is the move to green and matching stitching.

Will the new Lexus IS reach Romania?

For now, there is no announcement about selling this edition in Romania. The Lexus release states that all 350 units are reserved for North America, and prices will be announced later for that market.

The European Lexus range is concentrated mainly on electrified powertrains, while the configuration presented in Miami uses only the petrol V6. Official import of this series onto the local market is therefore unlikely without a separate announcement from the European division.

For buyers in Romania, any example could appear only through individual import. In that case homologation, taxes, locally valid warranty and the compatibility of connectivity equipment with European services would need to be checked.

When the first cars will be delivered

Lexus presented the edition on 29 August 2026 in Miami, at the end of the North American tour organised for the IS model's 25 years. The first cars are scheduled to reach North American showrooms by the end of the year.

The manufacturer has not yet published the recommended price and full commercial specifications. Until that information appears, the confirmed data are the 350-unit limit, the IS 350 F Sport technical base and the equipment included in the package.
