Renault and Geely will invest an additional roughly €319 million in their joint Brazilian operation by the end of 2027. The money will fund production of a new electrified Renault model and the expansion of local manufacturing for Geely cars at the Ayrton Senna complex in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná.
With the new sum, the investments announced by Renault Geely do Brasil for 2025–2027 reach about €899 million. The companies have not yet disclosed the name, price or specifications of the new Renault model.

A new Renault on Geely’s GEA platform
According to information published by Reuters, the new Renault will enter production in 2027. The model will use Geely’s GEA architecture — Global Intelligent Electric Architecture — and will be built at the Paraná plant.
The companies describe the future Renault as an electrified model, without specifying whether it will be fully electric, a conventional hybrid or a plug-in hybrid. The investment also covers localising Renault’s E-Tech 4x4 hybrid-flex system in Brazil, adapted to the fuels used in that market.
Fabrice Cambolive, Renault brand CEO and chairman of the Renault Geely do Brasil board, tied the project to the group’s international FutuREady strategy. For Renault, using a Geely architecture shortens the time needed to develop an electrified range dedicated to Latin America.
Geely EX5 EM-i and EX2 enter local production
The Ayrton Senna plant began production of the Geely EX5 EM-i SUV in September 2026, the brand’s first model built on the American continent. It is a plug-in hybrid, distinct from the fully electric Geely EX5 offered in other markets.
Local production of the Geely EX2, a fully electric hatchback, is scheduled to start in December 2026. Both cars use the GEA platform, and Renault provides both the industrial infrastructure in Brazil and distribution of Geely models.
Geely holds 26.4% of Renault’s Brazilian operation
The partnership was completed in November 2025, when Geely took about 26.4% of Renault do Brasil. Renault Group’s statement said at the time that cars from both brands would be produced in parallel at São José dos Pinhais.
Renault retains control of the company, while Geely gains access to production capacity and the local sales network. Brazil accounted for more than 40% of passenger-car registrations in Latin America in the first half of 2025, according to figures cited when the deal was announced.
The Brazilian projects are not an announcement for the European market. The new GEA-based Renault is being developed for Brazil, and the companies have not confirmed that it will be sold in Romania. Production of the EX2 and EX5 EM-i in Paraná also does not, at this stage, change the origin of Geely cars sold in Europe.
