Bentley Torcal revealed with up to 888 PS and 600 km range
Bentley has unveiled the Torcal, its first series-production battery-electric car and the marque's first wholly new model line in a decade. It will launch in two forms. The standard Torcal produces 604 kW (821 PS) and 1,155 Nm, while the Torcal S raises those figures to 653 kW (888 PS) and 1,350 Nm with Launch Control active. Both use a 113.2 kWh battery and are quoted with a maximum range of 600 km.
The performance gap is measurable but not vast. Bentley claims 0–100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and a 250 km/h maximum for the regular car. The S completes the same acceleration run in 2.9 seconds and reaches 260 km/h. These are manufacturer figures rather than Carboratory test results, and the 888 PS and 1,350 Nm peaks specifically depend on Launch Control.
A large battery with a 16-minute charging claim
The Torcal's 113.2 kWh battery is shared by both derivatives. Bentley lists a 10–80 per cent DC charging time of 16 minutes under suitable conditions and says as much as 357 km of range can be added in ten minutes at the maximum supported charging rate. Launch information puts that peak at 400 kW. Real charging curves will vary with battery temperature, state of charge, charger capability and thermal preconditioning, so the headline time should be treated as an optimal claim until independent tests are available.
Bentley's US pages display a maximum range of 600 km, identified there as an EPA estimate for the 2028 model year. European consumption and range figures remain subject to the relevant type-approval presentation for each market. That distinction matters: a number placed beside “EPA” should not automatically be described as a final WLTP result. Bentley also warns that fitted equipment, load, charging habits and battery condition affect the distance achieved in use.
The size and mass provide important context. The Torcal S specification lists an unladen weight of 2,795 kg, a 535 kg maximum payload and a 2,700 kg braked towing capacity. There is a 90-litre front storage compartment. Overall length is 5,008 mm, width is 2,025 mm with the mirrors folded and height is 1,677 mm; the wheelbase measures 3,023 mm. Calling it an “urban” luxury SUV does not make it a compact vehicle.
Active suspension has a heavy job to do
Bentley Active Ride uses a two-valve damper at each wheel, each linked to an electrically controlled hydraulic pump. The system can move the dampers individually to reduce body roll and widen the difference between the available drive modes. It is the kind of hardware required to reconcile the Torcal's near-2.8-tonne mass with the brand's claims of precision and comfort, although its effectiveness cannot be judged from a specification sheet.
All-wheel steering is standard. At low speed, the rear wheels turn opposite to the fronts by up to five degrees, reducing the turning circle to 11 metres. At higher speeds they steer in the same direction, intended to make lane changes more stable. Both versions have all-wheel drive, while the Torcal S adds performance-focused calibration and darker exterior treatment.
Driver assistance extends beyond adaptive cruise control. Intelligent Park Assist can control steering, pedals and gear selection; Remote Park Assist can perform the manoeuvre through the My Bentley app in supported markets. Garage Assist records a route into or out of a garage, while Reversing Assist remembers the last 50 metres travelled at low speed and can retrace them. The optional Touring Assist package offers hands-off operation on selected highways where regulations and mapping allow, but Bentley states that these systems do not replace an attentive driver.

The illuminated grille contains 76 diamonds
The electric powertrain removes the need for a conventional radiator grille, yet Bentley has kept a strong front graphic. The “Floating Diamond Grille” uses 76 individually applied LED diamonds and performs an animation when the car is unlocked. On the standard Torcal, an optional Bright Design Specification substitutes polished silver elements and adds 22-inch Turbine wheels. Torcal S uses black badges, mirror caps and side detailing, plus sportier sills, bumper mouldings and a rear diffuser.
Bentley says the tailgate shape takes inspiration from the luggage carrier of the historic Blue Train Bentley. The interior combines curved displays with knurled physical controls for functions occupants are likely to use by touch. There is deliberately no dedicated front-passenger display. Four settings — Bentley, Comfort, Sport and Refresh — coordinate powertrain character with lighting, audio, ventilation, climate and selected seat functions through the Curation Engine.

Materials include leather, the suede-like Dinamica textile, hand-finished carbon fibre on the S, optional Merino wool panels and Ombre Walnut veneer. Bentley developed the wool with Fox Brothers in Somerset. The available Waterfall Lighting system uses more than 450 LEDs in the doors and lower dashboard, while the central glass Curation Controller changes the car's coordinated modes.
Sound is treated as a separate design component
The standard Bentley Signature Audio installation comprises 16 speakers and 620 watts. The optional Naim for Bentley system expands that to 28 speakers and 1,780 watts, with Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 and speakers integrated into the driver's head restraint. Navigation prompts can therefore be directed towards the driver without filling the entire cabin.
The propulsion soundtrack, named Dynamic Symphony, is not a simple recording of a combustion engine. Bentley worked with musicians and used drums, viola and bass guitar, taking rhythmic inspiration from the marque's 6¾-litre V8. The result responds to vehicle speed and torque demand, becomes more prominent in Sport mode and can be switched off. Buyers will have to decide whether that adds character or merely replaces mechanical sound with a curated layer.
Torcal becomes Bentley's fourth current model family alongside Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga, and it will be built in Crewe. Bentley has yet to publish a euro-market price list, country-by-country standard equipment or confirmed delivery timing for every European market. The US-market figure is not directly transferable because taxation and specifications differ.
