Geely is adding the E2 to its Romanian range, positioning the compact electric hatchback at a reported launch price of €21,990. The number is an important market marker, but it is not yet accompanied by a downloadable Romanian price list on the manufacturer's website. Geely Romania currently asks prospective buyers to register for priority information about the car's arrival and the start of test drives. Buyers should therefore confirm the precise trim, on-the-road cost and delivery date with an authorised retailer before placing an order.

The European E2 range has two distinct powertrain combinations. The entry car uses a 60 kW rear motor and a 35.35 kWh LFP battery, while the longer-range version combines an 85 kW motor with a 47.14 kWh LFP pack. Both drive the rear wheels and produce 150 Nm. Official combined WLTP range is 252 km for the smaller battery and as much as 345 km for the larger one.

The two batteries serve different use cases

Geely quotes combined energy consumption of 15.5–15.9 kWh/100 km across the European line-up. Those are homologation figures rather than guaranteed real-world results. Cold weather, sustained motorway speeds, cabin heating, payload and driving style all affect the distance available from a charge. A commuter with reliable home charging may find the 252 km version entirely adequate; drivers who regularly leave the city will gain more practical flexibility from the additional 93 km in the larger battery's laboratory rating.

Charging performance also varies by battery. European specifications list up to 60 kW DC for the small pack and 80 kW for the larger unit. Geely gives a 30–80% rapid-charge time of 25 minutes under suitable conditions. The 6.6 kW AC onboard charger is comparatively modest, so connecting the car to an 11 or 22 kW public AC post will not make it accept power above its own limit.

Vehicle-to-load functionality can deliver up to 3.3 kW for compatible external equipment. That could power tools, camping equipment or small appliances, subject to the correct adaptor and the instructions in the owner's manual. Romanian customers should check whether the V2L adaptor is standard, optional or sold separately rather than assuming it is included with every trim.

A small footprint with useful luggage space

The E2 is 4,135 mm long, 1,805 mm wide and 1,580 mm tall, with a wheelbase of about 2,645 mm. It therefore occupies conventional B-segment road space even though its tall body and pronounced wheelarches create a crossover-like silhouette. The 4.95-metre turning radius is particularly relevant in tight car parks and older urban streets.

The rear boot holds 375 litres with all seats in use and expands to 1,320 litres when the rear backrests are folded. A 70-litre compartment under the bonnet provides a convenient place for charging cables, while Geely also identifies a removable 28-litre storage area beneath the rear floor. The flat cabin floor and a rear bench said to be 1,442 mm wide support the claim that this is intended as a five-seat car, not merely a two-plus-two city runabout.

The model is built on Geely's GEA electric architecture. It uses independent suspension front and rear, and the manufacturer says its chassis calibration has been adapted for European roads. That statement describes development work, not a verdict on ride quality: broken Romanian surfaces, speed humps and winter tyres will still need to be assessed in an independent local road test.

Large displays, but trim details remain market-specific

Every European E2 is centred around a 14.6-inch touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument display. Published specifications include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, keyless operation and a reversing camera on the base grade. Higher versions can add heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic camera system, wireless phone charging, an electrically operated tailgate and upgraded audio.

Equipment names should not be transferred blindly from one country to another. Pro, Max and Ultra specifications differ between markets, while local option packaging can change even when the badges are identical. The Romanian list will also need to clarify wheels, paint charges, heat-pump availability and which charging cables are supplied.

Five stars under Euro NCAP's 2026 protocol

The E2 earned a five-star Euro NCAP rating in 2026, under a revised assessment that examines safe driving, crash avoidance, crash protection and post-crash response. Geely says the car has seven airbags, including a far-side centre airbag, together with a five-radar and five-camera sensing suite.

Its assistance systems include autonomous emergency braking, driver monitoring, lane support, rear cross-traffic warning and door-opening alerts. The car can place an advanced eCall after a collision and electrically isolate its high-voltage battery. These functions add a meaningful safety layer, but none makes the E2 self-driving; the person at the wheel remains responsible for supervision and control.

Geely also says liquid cooling manages battery temperature, while the passenger-cell structure is designed to channel impact loads around the occupants. The five-star result matters because it was achieved against the new 2026 requirements rather than an older test protocol.

Romanian warranty and the questions still unanswered

Geely Romania advertises six years or 150,000 km of vehicle cover and eight years or 150,000 km for the traction battery, whichever limit is reached first. The warranty booklet determines the full conditions, including required maintenance and any battery health threshold.

The public Romanian model page still uses a pre-arrival registration form on 25 September 2026. That makes several details worth putting in writing before paying a deposit: the VAT-inclusive price, exact trim, battery capacity, DC charging peak, included cables, colour surcharge, expected handover date and rules for cancelling an order if delivery slips.

The E2's underlying proposition is easy to understand. It combines five seats, two luggage compartments, rear-wheel drive and a maximum 345 km WLTP rating in a body only slightly over four metres long. Whether the €21,990 version becomes the most compelling choice will depend on its Romanian equipment and actual availability, not the headline figure alone.
