Mercedes-Benz’s 2027 programme combines electric expansion, 48-volt hybrids and additions to the G-Class family. Two milestones have direct support in company documents: hybrid GLA variants are scheduled for the beginning of the year, while the 2026 strategy presentation places the G-Class Cabriolet premiere in 2027. Other projects, including an electric E-Class and a smaller G-Class, require a distinction between confirmed development plans and local delivery dates.
The programme is wider than a seven-car list. On 27 October 2026, Mercedes reiterated plans for more than 40 new models by the end of 2027, within a period of under three years. That does not mean 40 introductions in 2027 alone. Nor does a world premiere establish when every market will open orders or receive its first customer cars.
GLA hybrid has a defined early-2027 target
The European GLA announcement, dated 29 July 2026, specifies the beginning of 2027 for hybrid versions with 48-volt technology. Mercedes initially identifies two output levels, with front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations. The system pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor integrated into the electrified eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, designated 8F-eDCT.
The additional electric boost is rated at 22kW. The release qualifies that peak as available for 20 seconds at 3,000rpm. A lithium-ion 48-volt battery stores up to 1.3kWh. According to Mercedes, the system can support electric-only driving at urban speeds when power demand is low. Those specifications do not describe a plug-in hybrid intended to cover long electric distances after external charging.
A further electric GLA variant with a 71kWh NMC battery is also scheduled for early 2027. It expands the electric family introduced in 2026. The quoted maximum of 657km WLTP for the electric range should not be assigned automatically to the hybrid or to the forthcoming 71kWh version. An exact variant and specification are needed before making that comparison.
G-Class Cabriolet: a premiere is not a delivery promise
Mercedes’ 2026 strategy presentation identifies the following year for the G-Class Cabriolet premiere. A separate release from 2 December 2025 documents prototypes beginning road and track testing in Austria, with winter testing in Sweden to follow. Together, the documents establish a real development programme and a presentation milestone, rather than a customer delivery date for every country.
The testing announcement does not publish final engine output, vehicle weight, luggage capacity or roof-operation time. Figures from a fixed-roof G 63 cannot simply be carried across to the convertible. European buyers still need the eventual market-specific announcement to establish order availability, the actual powertrain selection and a price including the relevant local taxes.
A smaller G-Class has a broader timing window
The February 2025 corporate strategy confirms that the G-Class family will gain a smaller model. Updated information from Mercedes retail network Merbag describes a separate vehicle aimed at another segment, with electric and combustion-powered versions. It also says the final name, precise range, Swiss sales date and prices have not yet been publicly established.
Merbag cites Ola Källenius’s October 2026 statement that the vehicle would arrive in less than 24 months. That window can extend into 2028; it does not guarantee 2027 customer deliveries. Final dimensions and architecture should not be inferred simply from its relationship to the G-Class or from the platforms used by the CLA and GLA.
A future A-Class also needs its own announcement. The official documents cited here do not provide a complete next-generation product specification with a firm 2027 delivery commitment. A taller body, an MMA platform assignment and a particular electric or hybrid range require separate confirmation. For an entry-level buyer, a vehicle that can actually be ordered and its contractual delivery schedule are different from a forecast nameplate.
Electric E-Class plans do not confirm a C63 V8
Mercedes explicitly included an all-new electric E-Class in its transformation announcement of 20 February 2025. Its powertrain briefing on 27 October 2026 also describes scaling the 800-volt electric architecture to larger model families, including E-Class and S-Class. These statements establish the technical direction, without supplying a final battery capacity, homologated range or local price for the future E-Class.
The broader strategy retains four-, six- and eight-cylinder combustion engines and includes a next-generation electrified V8 for AMG. That is not, by itself, confirmation of a V8-powered C63 in 2027. Likewise, a proposed C53 designation or an output taken from an existing CLE should not become a confirmed production specification without a model-specific announcement.
GLC and the model-year distinction
Mercedes’ strategy separates electric and combustion vehicle concepts in the Core and Top-End segments, even as their design becomes more closely aligned. The GLC family reflects that choice of powertrain approaches. It does not follow that every forecast facelift, Coupé version or plug-in-hybrid battery specification for 2027 has been confirmed by the general strategy.
The US model-year schedule demonstrates why geography matters. The 2027 update published on 22 October places the electric GLC’s US arrival in autumn 2026 and the C 400 4MATIC Electric in spring 2027. The new GLA is separately scheduled for the second half of 2027 in the US as a 2028 model. None of those labels establishes a European order-opening date: world premieres, model years and local customer deliveries remain different milestones.
