Porsche Taycan Manthey did 6:55 at the Nürburgring. What the kit changes
The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package and Manthey Kit is not a new version for daily driving, but a conversion focused on the circuit. Porsche and Manthey have changed the aerodynamics, wheels, tyres, brakes, chassis settings and even how the battery delivers current. The official result is a 6:55.533 lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife, but also clear compromises for anyone who would try to use the same configuration away from the track.
The time was set by development driver Lars Kern on the 20.832 km layout and was certified by a notary, according to Porsche’s announcement of 7 May 2026. The brand presents it as the record in the “electric executive cars” category, not as the fastest lap ever recorded by an electric car.
The difference is not only the rear wing
At 200 km/h, the kit raises downforce from 95 to 310 kg. In the High Downforce configuration, allowed only on circuit and together with track tyres, the car reaches about 740 kg of downforce at a top speed of 310 km/h.
For these figures, Manthey fits:
- a new rear wing, with larger endplates;
- an optimised front diffuser and a rear diffuser with extended fins;
- larger underbody deflectors;
- wing and side-sill extensions;
- carbon aerodynamic discs on the rear wheels.
The rear wing and front diffuser can be adjusted for two downforce levels. The extreme setting is not one for the motorway: Porsche itself limits it to the circuit.
Wider wheels, larger brakes and other chassis settings
The forged 21-inch wheels are developed for the kit. Together with titanium wheel bolts, the assembly weighs more than 3 kg less than the already light wheels of a Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package.
Optionally, Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres homologated for the road but conceived first for the track can be fitted. They are 4 cm wider on the front axle and 3 cm wider at the rear than those of the base model. Porsche Active Ride, all-wheel steering, all-wheel drive and the other dynamics systems have their own calibrations for this combination.
The brake discs measure 440 mm at the front and 410 mm at the rear. The pads are different as well. These changes explain why the kit cannot be reduced to a set of carbon parts: wheels, brakes, suspension and software have to work together.
600 kW in motion and 730 kW for ten seconds
The Manthey Kit is the first package of this type for which Porsche also changes power delivery. Maximum discharge current while driving rises from 1,100 to 1,300 A, through changes to the high-voltage battery, the control unit and the inverters.
System power rises from 580 to 600 kW, and maximum torque with Launch Control reaches 1,270 Nm. Through Attack Mode, the driver can receive another 130 kW, so that available power for ten seconds reaches 730 kW. The function requires a battery level above 30% and a temperature above 10°C; Porsche recommends it only for the circuit.
On the Nordschleife, Kern was 12 seconds quicker than the time set in 2023 with the Taycan Turbo GT Weissach without the kit. Between the Lauda-Links and Bergwerk corners, his speed was 14 km/h higher. That is the measured effect of the package; it does not follow that every driver will gain the same 12 seconds.
WLTP consumption does not describe a day on circuit
The official figure for this version is 24.8 kWh/100 km in the WLTP cycle. The Taycan Turbo GT battery has 105 kWh gross and 97 kWh usable, and DC charging can reach 320 kW. In optimal conditions, Porsche indicates 18 minutes for 10–80%.
Neither WLTP consumption nor charging time, however, says how many fast laps the car can do. On circuit, speed, temperature, downforce level, tyre pressure and how often Attack Mode is used change consumption radically. Porsche does not publish an official range for running on the Nordschleife.
Can it be ordered in Romania?
Porsche says the Manthey Kit can be bought both as factory equipment for the new model year and as a retrofit for all Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package examples. The retrofit is available to order from June 2026.
In the Porsche Romania configurator, the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package starts from €255,473.35 at the date of publication. The Romanian configurator does not display a separate price for the Manthey Kit. Final cost, availability of circuit tyres and labour must be confirmed at a Porsche centre; prices in the United States cannot be converted directly into an offer for Romania.
For a Romanian buyer there is another practical consequence: the 740 kg downforce setting is reserved for the track, and Trofeo RS tyres need temperature and care in rain. The car can remain homologated for the road with the right equipment, but the technical reason for the kit is lap time, not range or comfort.
Frequently asked questions
Which model accepts the Manthey Kit?
Only the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package. The kit can come from the factory or be fitted later on compatible examples.
What is the official Nürburgring time?
6:55.533 on the 20.832 km Nordschleife layout, with Lars Kern at the wheel. The time is the electric executive-car category record claimed by Porsche.
How much power does it have?
System power is 600 kW. Attack Mode temporarily raises the figure to 730 kW, for ten seconds and only if temperature and charge conditions are met.
Can it be used on the road?
Porsche says the optional track tyres are homologated for the road. The 740 kg High Downforce configuration is, however, permitted only on circuit; homologation conditions for the whole package must be confirmed for the market where the car is registered.
How much does it cost in Romania?
Porsche Romania displays €255,473.35 for the base car with Weissach package, but does not publish a separate local price for the kit. The complete offer must be requested from a Porsche centre.
